... You have to keep doing and trying...but importantly looking ....looking at faces..

Hi Stu,
I’ve taken on board what you said and spent quite a while looking at faces generally. I’ve also made a few attempts with Milliput and also with Sculpy (I’m not going to show those fiascos), but I think the penny is starting to move downward (very slowly).
An s.b.s. by Gary Dombrowski which can be found at:-
http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/sculpting-101-step-by-step-1-16-figure.17398/
has a very useful head sketch. This, coupled with a very detailed head sculpt s.b.s. by Joaquin Palacios (which I downloaded some time ago and made into a reference booklet) have helped me by providing very useful pointers.
My latest attempt with Sculpy has finally begun looking vaguely human, and has most certainly whetted my appetite to keep trying.
All comments and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, and all the best for the New Year,

Very nice work there Andrew. Been looking at the same sbs you posted the link for. Have found it very useful indeed but have not been able to get anywhere near your efforts. Look forward to seeing more from you.

Barrie.

For what it's worth, this is my second attempt. The ears have just been added in a very general manner to give me a feel for the overall effect.
Stu ... please feel free to use my pictures to illustrate any points of the 'how not to do it' element of your post.

For me Andrew you are pretty much on the money.
As Stu says practice is the key, I continue to practice but have yet to really strike gold to my own satisfaction.
Good work Mate, it's looking very promising.
