Hi!

Could this figure be used and painted as a Seaforth Higlander during the great war or am I missing something here?

Janne, the figure can be painted to represent any highland regiment serving in WW1.
The kit comes with a sheet showing different tartans, but I think you would have to alter the cap badge. I've found the tartan and badge, hope it helps.
Carl.

Hi Janne,

Carl is correct it's just a case of painting the Mackenzie tartan, and changing the cap badge. They also wore a small triangle patch of tartan on the top of the left sleeve.

I'm not sure whether they would have worn the glengarry into action though!

Thanks again, Roger!

Actually Im not going for this figure but merely using it as reference for the uniform. Although its a great figure.

Do anyone happen to know if the kilts and tartan trousers were worn upon decision from the individual soldier?

Cheers

Tartan trews (trousers) would only be worn with certain kinds of dress state. An individual soldier would not be able to make a choice about whether he wore trews or not - they would get their state of dress + kit to be carried from the daily / operational order.

Found this on the invasion zone.

Thistle?

Planeteers friends, this is a great resource as ever:) !

While we're at it, where can I find a good picture of the thistles worn by officers on service tunics? I'm thinking of a London Scottish officer ca. 1915.

Thank you for your help.

Cheers,
Quang

Quang, finally found these. The silver ones are officers & pipe majors, No1 dress.
The second are other ranks, service dress.
Hope it helps,
Carl.

Thanks Carl! I guess it's what I'm looking for.

I was working on a WWI Scots figure many moons ago but stumbled on this particular detail. Now I can resume the work.

Thanks all,
Quang
