Hello.

I'd like to present a finished figure - Seil Model European Knight, 14C.
You may be familiar with this one, because in thread
http://www.planetfigure.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41018, I presented work in progress.
I decided to show the finished model in the separate thread, I hope it's o.k.

Anyway, I hope you like my work. Comments and criticques are welcome.

I think you did a wonderful job! It's absolutely gorgeous!

I would only like to offer one thing, simply as food for though (yes, I did read the other thread - wow). My thought was that the metallic shine of the chainmail matched too closely to the shine of the plate armor. It would seem to me that the chainmail might be a bit darker. I don't want to say less vibrant but that it would reflect differently although it would probably be very subtle. But that is simply something that is a personal opinion and maybe something to think about later on another project if you deem it applicable at all.

The heraldry is absolutely stunning. I love the blue and wish I could paint a lion like that. Beautiful work and very, very well done!

Nice work Simon, the finished figure looks good. I think the armour looks great and the heraldry looks just right for the period.

Overall on the painting I'd suggest a little more contrast.

One specific comment I wanted to make on the previous thread was about the blue. The colour is extremely vivid and not easy to achieve from vegetable dyes. There are many different blues possible with just the one dye but for this shade it would generally be more accurate to dull it down a little (as in the heraldry reference).

Well done! This is one figure I was never able to get from the late, lamented Seil.

Paul, James, Pete, Karrie, Rob, Einion, Marc, Carl, Glen - thank you for nice comments. I'm really happy that you like my painting.

Karrie, Einion - your comments are much apprecciated, I find constructive criticism of this kind very useful.

About chainmail - I always try to vary the same colour appearing on different parts of a model. In the same time, I usualy try to keep something what I call "colour coherence". And results of this process are one time better one time worse ... You are right, and I'm not quite happy with the chainmail, but it has to stay as it is.

Einion - you are probably right, and the colour is to much saturated. Belive me or not, but I tried to achive a slightly different tone :). For now, I kind of like the result - being aware of it's imperfection.
And you are definietly right about contrast, but it's an old habit which I don't belive to change :)

Simon
