Very nice indeed Steve. I think it's got a really good 'period' look, a bit like the John Mills 'look' in Ice Cold in Alex.

Also think the plate works well, a bit like those old rusted metal advertising signs that seem to be very desirable these days.
Cheers

Drinks a terrible thing Kev :hilarious: Many thanks for the comments I did the teeth white then ran a very light cream wash over them to dull it off a bit. Thanks Del the plate was done ala your style but the actual print doesn't work as well in colour as it does for the parchment style, but if you had a good printer I think it would.
Steve

You have done a great job on this one Steve, the eyes have come out nicely with the extra work you put into them.
All the best
Steve

Cheers Keith I'm glad, that was the acid test and it passed more thanks to Steve Readdie skill than mine though, if it hadn't been a great sculpt, I couldn't have improved it with my current skills.
Steve

K this the second one for my Uncle Mike (Dads brother) face is a little wet still hence glossy but what you think ? I've tried to do those damn contrasts this time  not sure if it's worked :shifty:

Steve it is a bit wet to tell with all the reflected light from the wet paint, but I think you are loosing contrast as you may be running one colour into the next and what happens then is it all becomes the one shade ,when that happens then you loose control . Try working the paint up to each other but stop just a little short and feather in with a fresh brush ,its a bit like "jumping off at Paisley"
Roger will know what that means :playful:

Ron

PS the overall flesh tone looks good ,maybe Smudger will jump in he knows a bit about handling flesh :playful:

Cheers Ron advice as ever appreciated I'll see what it's like when it's settled down a bit and redo it that way if it looks out
Steve

Hi Steve,
As Ron says the skin tones look fine. Let it dry a little and see what you think. Also there is a tendance for oils to come up a bit glossy in photos.
Still looks very good to me and I am sure Uncle Mike will be more than happy to receive this representation of his brother.
Just see what it drys like before you take any actions.
Well done Mate.
Please keep me posted.
Cheers,
Keith

Nice progress mate, I find with oils that the contrast can wash out a bit after drying so its worth going back and working some fresh paint over the dry until you get what you want.
Nice flesh tones by the way(would have put `thumbs up`smillie here but still dont have it):shifty:
Steve:happy:

Cheers Steve thanks for the advice mate I'll bear it in mind as it's starting to settle a bit and look like it'll need to be re-visted for some contrasts

Steve

Cheers Rog I'm quietly pleased but it's only because so many of you good painters have helped out

Steve

Hi Steve,
Keep plugging away mate, I hope your not painting one for every family member or you'll be seeing these in your sleep. Seeing this first hand I must say it is a lovely sculpt and a very good likeness. What did your family think of the likeness?
cheers
Richie

Everyone who's seen it thinks it's a good likeness the profile in particular is very accurate I'm just doing the three for family thankfully :nailbiting:
