Hi Guys ,

Finally got round to finishing this one , sculpting by Jimbo ..thanks mate .

The base by Ron Tamburrini ...really sets it off , top quality , name plate from Name-It .

Enjoyed the challenge of the medals and the rank badges , tried lots of different techniques using water soluable oils , together with various Acrylics 9Reaper , Jo Sonja, Vallejo etc

Based on a picture of Mr Edwards

Thanks for looking

Hi Keith ,

Thank you for your comment ...Jim should take all the credit ..hats off to him ...he muttered things under his breath I am sure .....have loads of idea's for him ..if I can keep him still !!!!!

Liked painting details , the arm badges took a total of 9 hours of work and I am pleased with the result ....and also the medals ..never have enough !!!!

Mr Edwards was Drill Instructor to the Royal princes , the cane hecarries was presented to him by them . When the Regt came back from the Crimea he marched in front carrying roses ...what a great chracter .

I know exactly what you mean Kevin.
I am currently sculpting a bust of GSM Billy Mott, this is a real medal fest with 7 at the last count. It seemed as though every time I found a new picture he had another medal. (the picture below does not show the Member of the Victorian Order medal)
Unfortunately I could not include the arm badge which is the same as Mr Edwards' revived for Mr Mott.
I like you little snipit about the cane and roses, as you say a real character.
Keep up the good work Kevin.
Cheers,
Keith

Amazing all around! Especially the badges and medals... they look fantastic!

What is the site address for "Name-It"? I was unable to locate it and I'm trying to find a good name plate service. Thanks!

Hi Nap,
Many thanks for your kind words.
Very well spotted that the MVO is not on show in the photo. My initial inspiration was from a portrait painted for the Sergeants Mess and showed only 6 medals;
OBE
South Atlantic ( with rosette)
GSM 1962 w/c Northern Ireland
Golden Jubilee Medal 2002
Diamond Jubilee Medal 2012
Long Service & Good Conduct Medal
I have now sculpted the MVO with the Saint John Cross (but I think this may be incorrect).
Now my contact at the Worcester Medal Service (BY Appointment to H M The Queen......name dropping:whistle:) tells me that the latest count for Mr Mott is 9 medals and an extra clasp;
OBE
MVO
South Atlantic ( with rosette)
GSM 1962 w/c Northern Ireland
Golden Jubilee Medal 2002
Diamond Jubilee Medal 2012
Meritorious Service Medal
Accumulated Campaign Service Medal
Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (with clasp).
So two more to sculpt and this will be my final count!!!
Cheers,
Keith.
