Can any one tell me which company, the above was attached too, during the said battle.I have seen the bust which shows him Centre company and a full figure with flank company wings.
Which is correct?

Hi Ian I have that print and others ,
I have the stormtroopers figures of Sgt Materson and he is wearing wings.
There is a bust which I think is the correct one showing tufts. just wanted to go with the historically correct version

This is from the book on the Peninsular war from Osprey now I know they get things wrong. Now you see my difficulty.

Hi Bob.
There's a review of this figure by Tommi on this site with an interesting discussion on which company he was with.No definitive answer but it looks like the figure is based on an etching showing him as a centre company sergeant.

Any info on Ensign Keogh [killed whilst taking the same eagle]? A sergeant might follow his company officer into battle - especially if he was a young [and rich!] gentleman??!! Bit tenuous, but makes a good story!

Cheer's Jon will search that one out

Yes I have the text and it says that the eagle was being admired by a grenadier Sgt. so unless it not modelled on Materson , I could get away with a grenadier Sgt.
I will look for the Tommi review. but it looks likely that the wings are coming off.

Hi bob

The figure's pose etc comes from a plate drawn 1 year after the event...we just copied it.

The info that came to light from the figure was that he was most likely center company...hence the changes when we did the bust.

It's not concrete evidence but it did seam quite probable from the research that was done.

So tuftey bits and no wings i'm afraid

Hope this helps

Stuart
