Sgt Masterson "I have the Cuckoo" with legs!

Superb piece of work Jim!
The "Bejabers, Boys I have the Cuckoo!" is a source of bitter debate among many former Faughs. A dear old friend, who is a Trustee of the Royal Irish Fusiliers Museum, is driven to the verge of apoplectic rage whenever it is suggested that Pat Masterson might have uttered such a ludicrous affectation of stage-Irish. Like many of the 87th (And some 40% of the British Army in the Peninsula), Masterson was from rural Ireland (In his case Roscommon) and Irish was his first language. Many of these Irishmen may have spoken enough English to avoid the halberds, but the Regimental Motto 'Faugh a Ballagh' - Gaelic for Clear the Way - originates from the engagement at Barrosa in 1811 and trips far more credibly from Masterson's tongue. As my friend the former-Faugh would say, the 87th were a Gaelic speaking regiment, a handful of them would have been bi-lingual but none of them would have been tri-lingual, speaking such fictitious tripe.
Now, that superb piece deserves a long-term home in the very heart of Masterson's descendant regiment (I am its Regimental Secretary). I don't suppose you fancy 'donating' it to the new museum we are working towards, which will bring together the story of the Irish Soldier in the British Army? (Not at all tongue in cheek, just serious if bare-faced cheek.)

Thank you Eugene, the bust was produced I believe by Stormtroopers miniature in the U.K. but sadly is no longer available, you may pick one up on Ebay or maybe from Steve Kirtley or somebody may have one to sale here on PF
