I've stayed with Elan13 Miniatures with Rob's bust of Sgt. Obadiah Hakeswill (ex Sharpe TV series).
It was a fun bust to paint, which I completed in a mixture of enamels, oils, acrylics and printers inks.

Hope you like it.

Hi Andrew

Could only be one person to portray this fellow....thought you'd already painted one ...but this looks good and in keeping with the series

Nicely painted and a really good sculpt from Rob

Look forward to seeing the next from the bench ...Slackbladder I believe

One small critique on an otherwise excellent rendition. Light company had a green plume, white over red is center companies with no wings.

Hi Kevin,

I'm pleased you like it.
Not quite in the same vein as yours (with the arms, head extension and posed peering at a painting in the shako).
I've kept meaning to get this one for a while, but either it was not available or I forgot, or I found something a trifle more 'shiny'.
As you said, a really good sculpt from Rob.

Cheers,
Andrew

Thank you for your kind comment Mel.
You are quite correct regarding light companies.
However, Sgt. Hakeswill was a replacement to the South Essex (a fictional regiment) and formed part of the centre company. I’ve attached a couple of stills from the TV series.

I see where you are coming from. The photos show a right mixed bag of uniform elements/anachronisms, it makes you wonder if the historical researchers did their job.
He's wearing light company wings and sergeants stripes on both arms, both light company indications (stripes should be backed with facing colour too), fringes are a bit bushy too.
He's carrying a half pike which was only for centre companies.
Not clear whether the stripe on the sash is white or yellow, should be the latter.
I realise this was a non fictional regiment in a TV series but I just just gripes me that with all the info available (even in the 90's) they should have made a better job of it.
Sorry for the rant.

Hi Melanie,

Richard Moore was the advisor for the Sharpe series.
His expertise was specific to the 95th Rifles, and it showed in the detail achieved in the uniforms.
I have no idea who dealt with the rest of the uniforms.
He/She most certainly did not have an equivalent knowledge to Richard's about the Rifles.
I totally accept the errors in the uniform, but like Robert in the sculpting, I merely followed the character on the screen for the painting.
As an aside, I did not read any rant, but merely sensed a frustration with an inability by others to check easily found records/information.
Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Cheers,
Andrew
