Another icon and giant of the figure modeling world gone! Just got the news that French flat specialist Christian Terana also passed away this weekend... Sincere condolences to family and friends!

Sincerest condolences to Shep's family......a sad loss to the model universe....a pioneer of his time...and a great ambassador to the hobby.

a true gentleman, and an inspiration to all. will be sorely missed. I like to think he has started a new model club in a better place. god bless. best wishes to his family and friends.

Very sorry to hear the news today. My condolences to Shep's family, and close friends. He was "the" ambassador for modeling as we know it. I really appreciated his encouragement through out the years.
Will miss you!

What a sad ending :( Sincerest condolences to Shep's family. His work was such an inspiration to me when I was younger and starting out with figures and also to many others.

He will be sadly missed and an inspiration for modeller's, his book on figures is my bible. Condolences to his family and friends a great loss to the hobby.

My deepest condolences to his family. A very sad loss and sad time for all modellers. RIP Shep.

Deepest sympathies to his family. Possibly the chap who started me and helped me indirectly with painting models all those years ago. Have some of his books so he will still be a help inspiration in the years to come. RIP Shep.................dom

I think it would be a good idea to have a shep payne model event, organised by modellers all over the world. we are always looking for a model show to go to which is not too far,so if there was an event organised in his name on the same date,it would be a tribute to a great man who put the hobby on the map. I have been doing models for over 40 yrs and am still regarded by some people as a bit strange,as the man who builds models/plays with toy soldiers. they don't have a clue about the art and research side of things. when I saw shep paynes historex models I was gobsmacked. how could someone put so much detail on a small figure. rambling on a bit, anyway does anyone else think its a good idea?/badger
