I like your painting on this , the leather effects in particular and the jeans he wears ....nice simple but effective groundwork as well

It's lovely to see your painting of the older figures

Why not put a piece into FOTM as well ..it's for everybody

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Nap

Thanks Nap, you know i have a fascination with the older figures, being one myself. ;)

Cheers,
Ken

Ken this was a classic series 77 kit and I am glad to say that I painted one a long time ago and still have it in my collection although I have always thought that my colour choices were a bit iffy, but you have got it just right, lovely job and great to see another oldie painted.

Ken, Excellent job on Dick Pielin! You know Pat Bird named his figures after hobby painters. Dick Pielin is/was a member of the Chicago Club. Hve not talked with Dick in years. Great guy to by the way. This is one of my favorites from The Americans Series! You did an excellent job on the Sheriff!!! The flesh tones, vest, pants, shirt, hat, gun belt. Super job Ken! What I wouldn't give to have another casting of this kit to paint! I painted one of these when it came out back in the 1980's. The idea for the figure came from a western, Border Chantry, written by Louis L'Amour. I am a big fan of the American West and love westerns. Think this is definitely one of Pat Bird's finest releases! And you did an excellent job painting the figure from the top of his stetson to the boots.(y) Excellent work! Would love to see your work on the tables at the Atlanta Show in February my friend!

Thanks Terry! Didn't know about the Louis L'Amour reference. Growing up with a western on every channel of the tv, made me a big fan. Doing this figure and other western figures gives me a nice warm feeling in an otherwise crazy world. :) As far as the Atlanta show, travel can be an issue for my wife and I. If I ever make it I'll certainly look for you. (y)

Cheers,
Ken

Ken, If you ever get the chance to make our show, I can honestly say you will enjoy yourself tremendously. Southern folks know how to make a person feel welcomed. Very down to earth and personable bunch, the group in Atlanta, GA!

I remember, when I first saw this figures in the early 80´s in advertisements here in Germany. They were outerspace, never seen before...
Since then I have a lot of them in my GA,buying them all over the world. The first that I painted was the American infantryman from 1898,my first in acrylic colors.I have the 154 mm pirate and the landsknecht, too. The third of them,a French carabinier from 1812 is waiting for me,somewhere on this planet:ROFLMAO:.
Hope to see more of them here in PF,painted by the cracks here.(y)

Hope your search ends well Tom. I'm working on painting others from series 77 but I sure wouldn't mind a little help. ;)

Cheers,
Ken
