I recently finished binge watching Vikings. I have had this busy sitting on the shelf for a while. I figured it was time to start it up.

I am pretty excited about this project, I have been in a painting slum for the last year and a half or so. It feels good to be excited about something again.

I am trying to go for a look that Lagertha had when she was in battle. Her eyes were heavy lined. I think it is currently a little strong, my desk lighting doesn't help either.

The skin is not done yet, I am moving on to the other areas to see how the colors al effect one another. I would like to keep her face on the warm side, while going a little cooler elsewhere.

Anyway, I would appreciate feedback, there is still lots that I have yet to learn

Here is another update. I have more of the colors blocked in now. As I have looked at it more I see the following that needs to be addressed

1. The blue is too saturated, I need to go back with a more grayish blue

2. The hair and leather is to close in value. I feel I need to warm one of the two up. As I am happy with the hair I think I will warm the leather up.

3. The face needs more work. I need to put a bit more contrast in and continue to smooth out the blends.

Anyone notice anything else? And to address the medium question, I am using p3 paints up to this point. Once I near completion I may do some final highlights with some oil.IMG_1619.JPG IMG_1620.JPG IMG_1621.JPG

from my (very) little experience : you actual tint is perfect to start with, by working more with your highlighted base color you'll definitely obtain that good looking almost white blonde hair :)

have fun !
