Hello everybody!

It's been a while since my last personal project here (The Lord of Lion), but finally I've got some time to start new bust. As You can see it's Nutsplanet sculpt again ;) I wanted to paint her since I saw first photos, because I love "Vikings" TV series and it was a "must have" bust for me. I bought her on Black Friday sale, than Painting Buddha released their awesome video tutorial - there's no better time to paint then right now. I've decided to take some photos during work and show You them. Without setting the background, lighting etc. - just fast shots with my smartphone. As You can see it's just the beginning and I still have a long road to go to finsh this project.

Hope You like her!
Let me know what You think, dislike, like etc.

Cheers.

A very nice face already.
It will look even better when framed by the hair.
Looking forward to your next update.

Cheers,
Andrew

Fantastic work Patryk!

For the uninitiated, could you just briefly describe the "wet on wet blending" process? The result is excellent.

Thanks much,

Greg

Thanks Greg! Of course, as You can see I've used black and white foundation here - it's better to paint blonde hair on light foundation. Then I've prepared three colours (midtone, highlight, shadow) on my wet palette and mix borders between them to achieve smooth transition right on the palette. I was painting fast all the areas with suitable colours - with little more than usual diluted paint and without cleaning the brush - it helps to achieve smooth blending on the beginning of work. Still wet paints mix together on the miniature creating this nice effect.

Interesting, mixing the transitions right on the palette, I've actually never thought of that. Of course I've only just started using a wet palette, but am fast becoming a convert. Thanks for the response!
