I think this will do, should look better when painted.

I'm trying something new, this is using Citadel Earth shade wash over all the white primer before adding any Vallejo acrylic colour just as I have been doing for the hair on some of my recent busts. I have used Citadel Nuln Oil Shade wash on the beard, etc.

I shall see tomorrow when I start with some colour.

I have noticed that the old bottle of earth shade on the turban is a slightly different brown from the new bottle as on the tunic, etc.

Thanks mate, trouble is I have tried washes in the past and they tend to get thick but will have to try harder.

Hi Geoff

Another great update from the bench .......even though it's not a colourful uniform it's coming to life really well

the flash of colour on the turban adds a nice touch , wonder if all regts were the same ?

Thanks for sharing

Look forward to more

Happy benchtime

Thanks Nap, I was saying to Helen that the bit of crimson really brightens it up.

There are different types of turbans depending on religion and area you come from and that part does come in different colours but I cannot find my ref. of the names of the various part of the headgear, and whether the regts had all the same colours.

Today has been lots of finishing touches, highlighting the tunic and turban, metalwork on the rifle, I painted the wood midweek with neat Artist's oils, and buttons, another couple of coats on the leather work, and painted the rod to fix him to the base which I have varnished so all it needs is a label.

Beautiful work Geoff! (y) I'd be lost without Citadel washes. Used in a controlled manner they can really make a difference. I especially use them to outline objects as they create a nice transparent shadow rather than a hard line. Particularly the earth, black and sepia shades.

Cheers,
Ken
