Fantastic Roger. One of your best works so far on the Greek revolution. The embroidery in particular is awesome. You are right about Cochrane too.A very gifted naval officer by all accounts much less gifted in the moral department. The general opinion in Greece is that he was either looking to make a profit for himself or he was a 5th columnist who was also trying to make a profit for himself. His irresponsible (or treacherous for the Greek cause) actions lead to the death of one of the most gifted Greek generals (Georgios Karaiskakis) and to the dispersal of the greatest and most cohesive fighting force the Greeks had ever managed to put to the field up to that point and subsequently to the great defeat at Faliro.Should Karaiskakis had remained alive there was a strong possibility that the Greeks would have liberated a great part of central Greece on their own.At the time a newly formed Greek state incorporating the Peloponese and central Greece was an idea that the British diplomacy was not ready to contemplate.Sir Richard on the other hand was probably less brilliant to begin with but a man of honour and a true stalwart for the Greek cause. As for the naval subjects of Greekheroes (have them all by the way) I think that the time for them to find life in your capable (and let's not forget also naval) hands has come!!!(Wouldn't you agree mate?)

Oda.

Thanks very much for your kind words Oda and also your views on Cochrane. I'm sure I have read somewhere that his actions were a result of the instructions he was given by the British Government. Greek Independence was fine but on their terms.
I think you're right about it's time for a naval subject, I'll include one in my next order. :)
You've also reminded me I have Georgios Karaiskakis awaiting paint.

Indeed I am and although you've already done a Makedonomachos I can only say that the Pavlos Melas figure is wonderful and the resemblance to the historical personality quite striking. We met on Friday, didn't talk much, him being in a hurry you see but we had a chance to share our mutual feelings of respect and appreciation for a certain "sailor" if you know what I mean:).

As for Karaiskakis, when your level of Greek allows you to read full texts (something I expect to happen pretty soon) I'll be happy to give you his biography.I can guarantee that you'll love it.
