What a beautiful piece of work. I had never heard of Skanderbeg, but thanks to seeing this bust I had to find out about him on Wikipedia. So thanks Offo for increasing my knowledge of history(y). And (y)(y)(y) for the Bust.
Best wishes, Gary.

Looks excellent bust ! Nice armor and pose. For sure it's "a must have" for the bust collectors and painters. Will be a commercial one ?

Historical note : Gheorgios Kastriotis was his real name, but for his heroic attitude gain the nick name Alexander bey (Iskandarbey - Saknderberg). An intresting historical personality. He was greek by his father and serb by his mother, from the city of Kastoria (Western Macedonia). He fought against the ottomans in the region of Epirus. His emblem was the byzantine double headed eagle on red backround.

Hello Palo,
in every field of history you choose you create masterpieces!
Also many thanks to Theodoros for the historical background of G.Kastriotis something well known to us (Greeks).
Congratulations Palo !!!

My best compliments for your bust, very very attractive. In order to add few details on how Skanderbeg impacts on the history of Albania the actual albanian flag remained to Skanderbeg heraldic insignia i.e. the two headed eagle (that you hare right reproduced on your bust) and albanian people call themselves as "Shqiptare" that means, according to several translations, the sons of the eagle.
You are also absolutely right where you say that there is a lot of interesting characters in the european middle age and renaissance history, also outside of the more known personality.

My son his wife and one year old daughter moved to Albania over one year ago. Wanting to learn more about Albania I read a book about the history of that little known country. Skanderbeg emerged from the book as the hero of Albania in the Middle Ages. Finding after further research a great amount of details and photos of the man I decided Skanderbeg was a nice nice subject for a bust. The helmet he wore is in the history museum in Vienna. My ties to Albania have grown deeper as my new granddaughter was born in that county 3 weeks ago. I am currently in Budapest and we get to meet Palo and receive the master sculpt. We will also next go to Albania to visit my son and family and the Skanderbeg bust will be with me when I tour his museum and see Albania before taking it home for casting. Great fun for a figure painter. Mike

Hi friends again thank you for your positive comments.
Yesterday I had a very nice meeting in Budapest with Mike.
He is on a trip through Europe.
Bust Skanderberg I gave him.
Interestingly, this bust now with Mike travels to Albania. Skanderberg will therefore be at home .
Subsequently it has a long way to the USA, for production that could be for you.

Thanks again Mike for a meeting and look forward to colorful creations from any of you.
Palo:)
