Hi all,
First of all, a marvelous figure Marijn!
Second, I have to agree with Gino. Marijn really has what it takes to as Gino put it:" be one of the top modellers of the world that influence the modelling scene alot."
I have not been fortunate enough to see his work in person until the AMT show this year. The main reason I attended that show, was to see the work of the spanish modelers, Jaume Ortiz in particular.
The show was all I hoped for and more, Jaumes painting is really exceptional, but Marijns work impressed me the most.
I have thought a lot about the reasons for that a lot and this is what I came up with.
First of all, Marijns figures look a lot better in person than in photos, but that is a common problem with painters of such skill. Second and main reason is that his figures are different, they posses a certain artistic dimension, that goes beyond technical perfection. He can tell a story with one figure. The expressing power of his faces, combined with original situations and attention to detail, both on figure and base are the reasons I have to agree with Gino, about the influence this kind of modeling should have on the entire scene. Marijn is by no means the only one who does that, but certainly one of them.
I know it has influenced me a lot in the sense that I try to look for something "extra" in all I do.
So watch your back Marijn, I am right behind you
Regards,
Luka
