Hi all. This is my first post here. Starting off with Sniper stalker from Alternity miniatures. 1:35.
Haven't painted in about a month. Pinched nerve at my shoulder. On the mend now!

First purchase from Alternity. Happy with the sculpt definitely. Very nice. On the boxart he's sitting on a tarpaulin. I kinda hoped that was included. No big deal! Easily sculpted!

I had decided to leave the left arm off to get painting the chest properly. Now I'm thinking I should have just went with it. Bit of a gap to fill after the arm goes on but nothing major!

Where to perch him.
Not decided yet. Possibly building an old abandoned watertower. Should be fun.
Not full size tower lolr. Enough to show it's a tower.

Got most of the things I need and planned it out on paper. But still unsure whether to go as big / elaborate as that.
Bit a good opportunity for heavy rust /weathering.

Photos of that along the way whatever way I go!

Hi Colin

Glad your shoulders on the mend long may it continue

Good subject and a nice start as well

Liking the water tower idea ...spot on for weathering

Following with interest

Have FUN @ the bench

Watertower it is then! Couple more supplies to grab and I'll make a start on it.

Nice start there, as Nap says the water tower is a great idea rusty old and flaking paint, good fun to make.

Cheers Simon
Yeah definitely mate. I love heavy weathered stuff.
Flaky paint and rust effects. I've started using streaking grime and doing streaks is so satisfying lol.

Cheers!

I make my own rust powder: I use steel wool scouring pads in the kitchen. When the soap is gone, they start to rust. So I stick the pad in a little cup, cover the pad with water, and let the water evaporate. I'll add water again, let it evaporate, and go through a couple cycles. When it's sufficiently rusted down, I grind it into a fine power with a glass stirring rod (hat-tip to Mr Wizard and the chemistry set I had as a kid). I can brush it on a piece just like pastel chalks.

Prost!

That's very cool. Great idea. I must give it a go. Can't have too many rust options!

Excellent, good fig for this and I'm looking forward to the rust works, too.

Cheers! Yeah great little figure. Quite a unique sculpt.
Hopefully good progress on it soon!

One of the things I miss from armour modelling.

Cheers Simon
I can see why! I'll watch some weathering of tanks etc videos on YT and say 'I want to do that!! "
Then look at a kit out of the box and say' do I really want to do that ' lol. But I am tempted to give something a go.
I take my hat off to the modelers!

I decided to try a woodland camo effect on the sleeves.
I'm not totally sold on it. I think I like one arm better than the other and it's the one mostly hidden. Typical!

But yeah I'm kinda feeling it. Although honest thoughts please. Hit me with it!

He's looking good, camouflage can be a bitch to paint but it looks alright. Only issue I have with it is the firing position, that's down to.the manufacturer not you, there's no way he'll get an accurate shot off like that but it does look very dynamic. He's coming along nicely.

Cheers Simon

Yeah I know you mean there thinking about it.
Another thing I've noticed - the platform I'm using for it came in today. And when I sit him on it roughly where he'll be to get visual for it, he's aiming up for into the air! And it's not like he's resting between shots or anything.
So I'll definitely need to sculpt a tarp or something to level him out. Couple of other things to make it look like a natural spot too.

Cheers Simon!

Ideally something to rest the rifle on so the muzzle isn't waving around like a big wave around thing, if you know what I mean.

Cheers Simon
