Marquis: It is oil over acrylic. The red mix is as follows. I used all Windsor Newton colours. Windsor Red Deep with Veridian added to darken and a touch of Raw Umber. this was used on the lower section from the bend in the knees. Shadows were more veridian added plus purple and raw umber sometimes as a glaze. Lights were Windsor Red Deep with less veridian. mid reds working up to the shoulders and hood was cadmium red plus Veridian to darken. Lights were Cadmium Red with less veridian and shadow with raw umber and purple.
The upper shoulders and hood were Bright red with veridian to darken. Shadows were more midtone with glazes of Raw umber. Highlights were bright red with a little orange added with still a touch of veridian. There is not a straight red from the tube used unless it had a touch of veridian added. I was very pleased that I did not use a red straight from the tube to get the transitions. The completed figure had the face masked using blue tack and the shine killed with an airbrush of Dullcote. After the dullcote the final highlights were done again but just on the very tops. If it had a shine it seemed to be the glow from the crystal.???? Hope this helps you.
Cheers
