Hi,

I´ve finished another mini that stood on my desk for quite a while.

It´s a conversion of an out of production Forgeworld Spacemarine.

It´s about 54mm scale. Though, due to the bulkiness of a Space Marine, an average 54mm minis looks pretty small compared to it.

I painted him as a Veteran Sergeant of the Blood Angel Chapter.

Any comments, critic etc. is highly appreciated.

Tanks for looking,

cheers, Simon.

Bonjour Simon,

I like what you did with this figure. Everything looks good.

I saw those little pale blue spot. Is it like vert-de-gris?? If so, nice little touch.

Like the flag also. The heraldry is fantastic. Maybe it is just me but it seems to be too clean. When you look at the back of the flag, everything look so clean. It is ripped but no stain. Maybe a bit of black around the edge showing some burned tissue? But that's just me.

Good job.

Simon, Very nice work on the figure. I like what you did in the converting of the figure. I don't usually do this type of figures, but am growing to like them a lot. Look forward to seeing more of your work. Thank you for sharing.

Hi,

Thank you all for your kind comments. I really appreciate that.

I´m going to take it with me to Euromilitaire which I´ll most likely visit this year. So, if interested you can see it in person there.

@Clarence1: Yes, I intended to simulate the oxidation of the yellow-metal parts by painting the "pale blue spots". Moreover it helps to break up the overall monochrome colour sheme.
I think you have a point concerning the flag. I painted it without considering how it fits best to the Marine. I will go over it and add some smoke and dirt after everything has completely dried.

WOW! Wonderful.
And it's very beautiful.
I remembered a cartoon film around a child.
Great work.

Great work Simon!

I work on a same subject, a marine for the inquisition as scratchbuilt.
So I see you have made an excellent work on small details.

Congrats!

Hi again Simon! I saw similar figure which the painter had simulate the glow of the eyes on the helmet, with a transparent fading green. It gave the figure liveliness. I advice to do the same. Of course, first practice to another miniature.

Hi,

Thank you all.

@: Black Army: Cool, Inquisition sounds very promising...a Grey Knight? I hope you post it when it´s finished. I really like those larger scale Marines as they offer lots of large, flat surfaces for all kind of weathering and freehand stuff.

@: sirhogr: I know what you mean, I thought about doing it especially around the reactor of the plasma-gun. Yet decided against it as I´m not really experienced in doing such source-lightening effects and especially around the eyes it could have ruined the entire work. The other reason is that I think in terms of realism it´s not really adequate for the scale... exept it´s a night scene...

Cheers, Si.

was looking at the amount of work you put in to this . fantastic job and easily the equal of any of GW sculptors. paint up looks very real and believeable. a lovely piece for the Cabinet for sure. wonderful work all round.
