With respect to the soul power of these people
The ancient name was Kalydon, but after the occupation by the Venetians named Spinalonga (Long spine). He started in 1574 fortified by the Venetians when the Turks had occupied Cyprus and the Venetians understood that soon would turn and Crete. After the conquest of Crete in 1649 by the Turks, Spinalonga was still in the hands of the Venetians until 1715
The island was conquered by the Turks in 1715 and inhabited by Muslims. In the mid 19th century the number of inhabitants increased if the island was the birthplace of trade. After 1898, most residents fled the island. Since 1903 served as Leprosarium, where again the first 251 lepers (Cretan origin) to the foul side of first and secondly the transmissibility of the disease previously lived exiled and isolated from the local community, the remote outskirts of cities in places which are called "meskinies.
