Using Valegio stay gun mixed bottle paint I did shake it well perhaps not well enough
Cheers Chris

I'm still an airbrush noob Chris but spattering is usually down to either of 2 reasons (or both):

1. Air pressure is too low.
2. Paint is too thick.

Also, just to be on the safe side, make sure your needle and nozzle are sparkly clean and undamaged.

Ideally you should be spraying at 28 psi.....if your using Vallejo 'Air' they should not need further thinning!
If you strip the AB down...first check the tip of the needle is not bent....then check how it 'seats' in the nozzle....put a few drops of AB lube in certain areas....such as the trigger/plunger well....down the 'throat' (base of colour cup)....and rub a small amount along the length of the needle itself.
Once you have done this....spray a small amount of AB cleaner through the AB....last thing to check is that the nozzle is screwed in nice and tight....just don't over do it and strip the thread!....easy way to tell if it's not tight enough is to check for air bubbles in the colour cup when you spray ;)
Never mix the colour in the throat of the AB (colour cup)....and before anyone jumps in about that....many do....and if you watch their videos carefully....you will see them frequently trying to 'restart' the AB!

All excellent advice and can't overstate how relevant this is . As far as the AB is concerned cleanliness is next to Godliness , 70% cleaning and 30% painting .
Get this into your head and the AB will become an invaluable tool

With the utmost respect, I DON,T agree that '28' psi is suitable for everything when using AB's (Vallejo or not). I frequently get down to 10psi and more often than not end up around 15-18 psi for most things. If I'm spraying a large area then I rarely look at the pressure and just do what needs to be done., usually with a 0.4mm needle nozzle combo when I need to get some paint on the subject. I use 0.2mm for everything else.

If you want to spray at higher levels then I would strongly suggest you adjust your brush to limit quantity.

What temperature are you spraying in Taff? It makes a difference if it is too cold mate.

What you say is right Mozzy ;its about finding a balance re pressure , one size does;t fit all . The AB requires more skill than most appreciate ; a bit like applying silicon to sanitary ware , you can get into one hell of a mess ; it just takes practice and a bit of knowledge

Sorry....but where exactly in my post did I say "28' psi is suitable for everything when using AB's (Vallejo or not)".....comments like that are why I rarely post here anymore.....I will leave it to you as you are the obvious expert on AB ing

And comments like this is why I'm looking here less nowadays too, the guy was just giving advice Ron, exactly the same as you did. No need to throw your teddy if someone disagrees with your "expert" advice.

Clearly a matter of misinterpretation. Kagemusha (Ron) did not propose 28psi as an absolute to the exclusion of any other pressure.
Why then should Mozzy CAPITALISE his response rather than simply illustrating alternatives.
Don't read Ron's reponse as throwing the teddy, but rather a reaction to the somewhat unnecessary and confrontational use of 'I DON'T'' which could be seen as a deliberate attempt to provoke.

Suggest you read my original post again.....in no way did I mention or imply I am/was an "expert" on all things airbrush related.

Thank you for the voice of reason Del.

Oh dear, i didn't intend to upset you Ron: Taff asked a question and I felt there were alternatives to your reply. ( You said: I believe; but then my eyes are poor, and I apologise for thinking that you said the following. Ideally you should be spraying at 28 psi.....if your using Vallejo 'Air'

Followed by; Sorry....but where exactly in my post did I say "28' psi is suitable for everything when using AB's (Vallejo or not)".

So as I said; my apologies. I just felt it was a discussion forum, and hence hearty discussion was not an issue. Clearly my mistake, and for the third time I apologise that I upset you. Clearly you didn't even mention 28psi! My mistake entirely.

Moving on then.....

Ahhhh....a good healthy dose of sarcasm....you know full and well what I said in my post....but decided to twist it....if your vision is that poor....may I suggest 'Specsavers'.

Thank you; I suffer CRVO and WILL go fully blind at some time in the near (ish) future. You SS comment was completely uncalled for!!

No need to respond. As I said ...Moving on then :)

We all have our crosses to bear.....most of us don't need to play the sympathy card tho.
As said....moving swiftly on............

by the way, If you suffer CRVO, it usually is in only one eye and the worst vision is at presentation, when it all happened. It can get better with time or with the help of intraocular injections if required. Unless you develop neovascular glaucoma, there's no reason to fear getting worse with time in the involved eye.

Cheers
Alex

Oh dear a guy asks a simple question and it ends up a slagging match which does not help anyone. If you two want to have a go at each other and "anticipate" what the other person is "really saying" can you please take it offline and pm each other so the rest of us do not have to wade through this crap while trying to find some useful information on spraying! Life is too short guys!

Cheers, Bob
