The Reality

Del - I spent two memorable summers working in a hotel on Arran (dangerously close the Glasgo BTW) and got sun stroke three times. My firends who owned the hotel put it down to the gulf stream....and that does explain the palm trees on Arran....but I am still trying to understand how you can get sunstroke from the gulf stream. More likely it was a result of my 50% Scottish genetic pre-disposition to burning in any sun except that found in the Raj.

Colin

Roger I am sure the cake would have looked wonderful if you didnt have it at work for a month before you tried it.

Hey Colin You should have been there this spring/summer. Family on Skye had salmon waiting to get up the river for around a month, no water in the river as there had been no rain on the island. We have had a wonderful spring/summer but its changing into cold weather now.
Yes Arran does benefit from the Gulf Stream, but despite your protests its far enough away from Glasgow for the people who live there to enjoy life.

Don

Roger, you have a way with words. Coming off the deck in bad weather and going below for a big breakfast with Fanny. Its a young sailors dream!
I much preferred just having breakfast.
Was "train crash" with or without Fanny, the meal where a main ingrediant was canned tomato to give the blood effect?

Don

She opened it randomly and the first ingredient she saw was "one sheep's head, slightly singed." That was the end of the initiative.

Colin

That reminds me of the old joke about the bloke who goes into the butchers and says "Have you got a sheeps head?" and the butcher says..... wait for it........ "No I always comb my hair like this."

Roger.

I've got an historical question to ask! Throughout the centuries every time the Clan's decided to have a vacation to England to knock the cr*p out of us, did this coincide with the midgies season in Scotland by any chance?

Richie it actually coinsided with the harvest in the North Of Scotland and went something like this
1 Spring Planting, leave to fight.
2 Summer Knock sh*t of the English.
3 Autumn Return in time for harvest without having used any energy during the summer.

Sometimes that is what happened other times they just went fishing!
Now awaiting someone (a sore loser perhaps) to pick the bones out of that!

Don ( tin hat at the ready.)

Hey Mark, I didnt expect anyone to bite so quickly! Roger is right, we have all worked together to long to lose any sleep over it.
Tin hat safely put away Roger.

Don LOL

Billy,
:ROFLMAO: , I would rather not insert anything! ... even, 'Smilies',.. into, any, 'Unknown Territory'!... It always comes to grief! ... and usually involves, medication, and embarrassing explanations!
