Stripping with Dettol

I recently stripped a metal figure with milliput using Dettol soaked overnight. The stripped paint was a real gunky mess even clogging up the toothbrush that I was using to brush the paint off. Then I soaked the whole in a lacquer thinner bath. All that paint dissolved and following a couple more soaks, the figure came out clean as a whistle.

I found the same happened the first time I used it as I had running water to help wash the stuff off at the same time. The water was the issue. Different toothbrush and just Dettol for the second go and it didn't go gunky at all. Brushed off nicely, then washed in warm soapy water.

Only issues I found were:
1. It stinks.
2. My skin doesn't like it (but I'm fine with meths and Nitromors. Go figure).
3. It seriously stinks and the smell lingers.
