All the ideas are good but I think my favorite is the John Wayne "Shootist" idea. I'd buy one of those in a minute.
The one I'd like to see, (& I'm stating no opinions, taking no stands, trying not to perform a mass cyber conversion, & hopefully offending no one) is Jesus being tempted by satan during his 40 days in the wilderness. Consider the possibilities- would they be sitting or standing?; on a mountaintop or the desert floor?; would Jesus have a look of contempt, amused patience, disdain?; would satan have the wild-eyed manaical look of Pacino in the last 15 minutes of 'Devil's Advocate', the wild-eyed manaical look of Nicholson saying 'Here's Johnny!' in "The Shining", or would he be a relatively wild-eyed manaical Hollywood heartthrob in light of the fact that he was supposed to be the most handsome of all the angels? I think it'd be interesting to see what a talented sculptor would do with that.

Mike

I agree Dan, but like you said, it has to be done with complete class...no margin for artistic license, perhaps with the exception of the placement of the figures in the honor guard.

It would have to be a nicely cast piece of resin to do that Tomb justice...

Jeff

I really like the John Wayne bust idea alot. A another along those same lines would be him as a bust from the Longest Day. Here is one I would like to see:

WW2 German Resin figure in 200mm. A Folksturm figure of a middle to older man a little heavy wearing a overcoat. He would have a Luffeshults helment on. He would be wearing a hitler mustache. He would have a Panzerfaust in one hand and a WW1 mauser in the other. He would be standing with his head turned looking down the street.
To go with him a Hitler Youth around 12 to 13 also in 200 mm wearing a worn non miltary jacket and nickers. Also in a Luffshultz helment carring a panzerfaust and wearing a 32 cal pistol in a holster.
Also A bust of the above older Volkstrum in the Luffshultz helment. ;) :) Please think about it . Thanks Brock

I'd like to see more French and British troops (regulars and militias) in North America from around 1700-1760. Specificly, I'd like to see a French-Canadian Militiaman from an engraving in Battlefeilds of Canada (Fryer M.B. 1986, Dundern press) but in a diffrent pose. Also, I'd love to see Canadian Voltegeurs from the battle of Chateauguay (1813), Joseph Brant (Mohawk Chief), Tecumseh (Shawnee Chief), the Sargent from Plate B3 in Osprey's 'Canadian forces in WW II' and Pte. Ernest Alvia Smith (read more here) http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/general/sub.cfm?s...citations/smith

But I don't want to see these until after I've learned to sculpt and have made them
myself.

also, I'd like to see more U.S. Infantry form the war of 1812, General Issac Brock and Royal Marines rank and file from the late 1700-1815... but I'd be happy just to build up kits for these ones and paint them.

Mike

I like the idea off John Wayne, and Eddy Wally ;) .
The John Wayne i would buy it immeditly but Eddy gonna be on my wish list for years.

What i really want is two of the greatest guitar players side by side (just like playing a contest in the movie The Crossroads). The two players should be Jimmy Hendrikx and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Quang if you had the time and the inspiration. Do It

Marc

Jimi didn't wait for me.

I agree with you, Mike, it's a rich subject, but not exploited as it should. I'd like to see more of these, even if it means I have to wait for you to sculp them

Cheers mate

I feel a little outside the loop here with my suggestions. In comparison to all the requests for movie and tv actors and their roles I'd like to see the attention given to Rome ( and it's a lot ) expanded a bit to the Later and Eastern Empire. A mounted Belasarius in any scale. A mounted Suren ( the Sassanid Persian that destroyed an Emperor and Legion only to lose his head to Chosroes' envy ) in any scale, Stilicho the Vandal Master General of Rome, the Balthi- such as the brothers Sarus,Athaulf,Singerich and of course Alaric.
Do I ask too much????

Not at all, John. That's what this forum is all about. There may be 100s of others looking for exactly the same thing.

What scale and media would you like to see used on these late Roman and barbarian figures?

I assume you've already looked online at the Italian & Spanish online retail sites? If not, I can send you some index type URLs and some retail sites you might want to check. Let me know.

All the best,
Dan

Thanks Dan. I'm familiar with the majority of current offerings. My preference is resin but it's hard to be too picky. 90mm is desirable ( old eyes ). I've been relatively quiet since joining ( not my personality ) and it's time I become more vocal in expressing my appreciation for this site and the tremendous amount of energy put into it by contributers. This site is beyond question the best around and fills so many needs for the miniaturist that it beats printed media by a mile. The SBS's are a delight and rewarding and the talent range is always a surprize. :)

How about something based on some of Frederic Remington's works of the American West or Span-Am War. "The Scout," a mounted Native American in a winter scene, or "The Alert," a mounted trooper of the 9th or 10th U.S. Cavalry, are two that would make for great 54mm figures, but there are so many other possibilities in his art.

I have also always wanted to see someone do a British Guardsman at Hougoumont in 54mm. On the more drab side, a 120mm WWI Doughboy as he would have appeared in the Argonne offensive would be another good one.

Scott H.

Scott, Welcome to Planet figure. Remington has a number of paintings and studies that would make great figure kits. Michael Roberts Ltd. make a WW1 Marine in 100-120mm that would make a great Doughby with little or no changes needing to be made.~Gary

Here's some more WWI US figures you might consider.

In 110mm, Tradition of London has this US Army Artillery Officer
is.php

In 120mm, Verlinden US Army BAR gunner
is.php

also 120mm, Nemrod USMC Belleau Wood marine
is.php

also 120mm US Infantryman [This one may be difficult to get and I think it's out of production.]
is.php

Michael Roberts has a 120mm USMC Officer - a great kit and taken from a famous period photo. Model Cellar has a number of kits of US pilots. Fusilier has a couple of 75 - 80mm US infantry and cavalry figure kits.

Can't help you with 54mm - I don't collect them.

all the best,
Dan

the figures what would like to from the battle known as the battle of ain jalut 1260ce which is between the mongols & the mamlukes in 54mm also maybe emil zola and dreyfuss in the same scale.

I like the John Wayne idea as well, and should one be available, I would buy it and paint it.

I have two suggestions: (1) I would like a "traditional" U.S. sailor, circa WWII forward until the uniform changed enough. I would like the blues with the bell bottoms and the flap on the back and the black tie and the white sailor cap. There was once a recruiting poster that showed a 3/4 rear view of an idealized sailor in that uniform, and I've always thought it would be a great subject for the collection. I know it is a simply subject, but there aren't all that many sailor figures out there. And,

(2) famous characters from Shakespeare: Hamlet, MacBeth, Lear, Othello, etc. at some of their most famous moments.

Have enjoyed all the suggestions.

D

There are several existing figures that could be converted to do what you want with the US sailor, I think. Why not try a conversion? You could use the WW2 Kriegsmarine Verlinden figure possibly. I used it to convert to a WWI sailor infantryman based in Belgium. I don't care much for the face of that figure, but that's changeable.

If you want to wait a bit, Alex Lopez is working on a US sailor figure that I think you'd find just terrific. I'm not sure how much more I'm supposed to say about that - maybe I'd better leave him to announce it. Alex is a very talented sculptor!

Or see my vBench for the WWI sailor-bugler. I'm not under any illusions about my talent (or absence thereof....) as a sculptor, but, heck, if I can do it - - so can you. I'm just a novice, but you got to start somewhere....

I really like the idea of the Shakespeare characters! That's got some real possibilities! Marc Antony, Julius Caesar, the 3 witches from MacBeth, cool concept!!

all the best,
Dan

Hello all-
Remember the old Airfix multipose sets? As a burgeoning converter & scratch builder I would love to see someone create a full line of conversion pieces available in small lots (i.e. ten legs, bag o' torsos, etc.). The Preiser Adam and Eve sets are an example of this. As it stands, plenty of parts are available, but we have to go on a hunt (which can be fun, I admit) to assemble everything we need for a conversion, head from one manufacturer, feet from another, weapon from a third, etc. Wouldn't it be great to be able to get a wide variety of nicely sculpted stuff all in one place? Resin would probably be the material of choice, and a variety of scales would be cool. Any thoughts?
Matt
