For me personally, this whole discussion comes down to the difference between "criticism" and "critique".
Any response to a request for 'Critique' runs the risk of sounding harsh, if it is not backed up by sound advice, on how to improve a certain aspect of the critique.
Criticism, on the other hand, always tends to sound too harsh, no matter how well intended, or not.
For me, and again this is a personal viewpoint, I would always prefer a pictorial example of how any aspect of my work can be improved, as it is far easier to understand and grasp what is being offered, in terms of improvement, over what I am achieving.
There is a deep well of knowledge and expertise available here. We all have something to offer each other but, in the end, it all comes down to how it is expressed, and the way it is worded.
