Martin Luther Figure

Hi Georges !
The figure concerned is a 54mm white metal representation of Martin Luther standing on a small base holding the King James version of the bible. I imagine the sculptor wanted to represent him giving one of his famous sermons to the common folk in Germany then. The figure comes in 3 parts (the complete figure minus the left hand holding one side of the bible, the aforementioned left hand with the missing portion of the bible, and the small groundwork base). Dry-fitting the parts shows good registration with perhaps only a small wipe of filler needed at the left hand/bible joint. The figure can be bought direct from the manufacturer via his website (seen on the scan of the back of the packaging). Knowing some German will be a plus as I seem to recall that the site is set-up as such. Hope that helps, my friend. Cheers !
Kenneth.

King James Version?

He might rather hold his own version of the bible. Martin Luther died in 1546, the King James Version was first published in 1611. I also doubt he could read English. ;-)

Another new company entering the market is Special Ops Models.
Randy Meyers is the owner and sculptor, and he is without a doubt a very good sculptor.

Alexander , definitely a great idea. there is no worthier way of spending our money than one which involves helping cancer research, or any other deadly disease.
It is also a good idea to give small companies who produce a good product at a reasonable price a chance to make a living. unfortunately their products are often overshadowed by the Giants' elaborate, fancy advertisements and packaging.
I agree with you, that we should also support aspiring sculptors and your idea is certainly food for thought and will be given much consideration.

Series 77 is another company worth looking at. The new owner Burl Burlingame is doing a fantastic job bringing these old gems back.
The prices are extremely reasonable, and he even offers free shipping till the end of the December on his pirate bust. Very sweet deal.

Daniel Morton and John McNenney, two of our own Planet figure brothers, have teamed up to produce their new line " The Old Contemptible ".
The first of this line is Tommy of 1915. It appears to be an excellent figure.
The above named gentlemen are contributors to our Planet, they deserve our support.

Roc - Many thanks friend! More stuff to come! We're barely gettin' started. I don't want to resort to cheap and shameless hucksterism, but I would love to hear from PF guys about what 1/16th scale WWI subjects you'd find most interesting - ones likely to make you part with $$ !! :)

Elsewhere a regular mentioned an RFC pilot and I suggested RNAS (nobody has done one as far as I can tell - and they had an interesting uniform). How about that?

All the best,
Dan

Roc,

How about a French Fusilier Marin? When I finish the two I'm working on now, I'm planning a Marin in the uniform of the Yser 1914 period. He'll be leaning, very relaxed on some hay bales, smoking a large, curved pipe. I plan to work on a second figure at the same time, like I have with the current two - that seems to work well for me. The second will be an Ostfront German Landsturm eating happily from his mess tin. I'd like to do him in the old blue field uniform. No thoughts on Italians yet but I'll consider it.

All the best,
Dan
