Another all time favourite subject of mine Swiss Rislaufer [not sure if spelled right] Mercenary. This figure is another Andrea 54mm offering by R.Patton another nice subject inspired from an MAA plate in the Landsnechts.

As usual painted in oils over acrylics ...

Wow! That's very well done. You did a beautiful job with the reds & fleshtones. Would it be possible to see a larger photo showing the groundwork as well?

Mike

That's really beautifully done indeed. I really like your flesh tones and reds. Do you mind sharing your mixes? Thanks

Thanks guys ...

Here is a full version of the figure ... Xeno regarding mixes I use basic oil colours Titanium White, Burnt Sienna, Mars Yellow and a dab of Ptahlo Rose ... deep shadows I add a dap of Sap Green and Prussian Blue, Purple Madder and Brown Madder ... highlights white + flesh mix + Jaune brilliant ... the only thing I start wet on wet but then I work it out wet on dry again after drying ... I will be writing an in depth article in your local magazine Model Expert, and would be translated in Greece shortly, hope it would be of help for you ...

Ivan ;)

Man Ivan,
you are on a roll! Nice work. I am an oils man as well, I bet that second round of wet on dry work really helps the highlights pop! Great stuff!

Really nice work Ivan,
I'm an oil man to, and i must admit that i work the same way as you. First wet in wet, after dry redo it all over again with wet on dry.
Now i'm trying to work wet on dry.

Again guys your comments are much appreciated and I am happy to see more oil painters sharing the same techniques.

Paul you made a good choice with this figure and looking forward to see your rendition, most probably last MFCA you might have spotted him in the dispaly as it was there as well ... I was very amazed and delight that it got me my first silver from there!

Thanks again guys ...

Ivan

Hi ,
Love this figure ...mine has come out of the grey army ...really great job on the leather and the dirt/blood , great facial painting , can you give us some details ...regards Kev

Hi Kevin

I work a lot with compliment colours and combined cold and warm colour hues to acheive differnt textiles. I ahve to go through to get back into my mixes as I jotted these somewhere ... what would be your main mix interest?

Ivan
