thank you for the idea of an electric chair but I believe Sing - Sing has plans for that chair already but somebody left out a chair made for the Spanish Inquisitors with leather binders hold to person's hands and head and slowly given a headache in the chair don't worry about that because you could not give one even to a dead person.

mcsnead17. My Aculite fell apart recently and I decided to look for a new and ideally cheaper solution.
Picked up 2 of these from my local IKEA store in Glasgow (The Brooklyn store has them in stock for about $9 each).

Being right handed I use a daylight bulb in the lamp to the left of my painting area and an ordinary bulb in the right lamp (2 daylight bulbs are just too bright for m).
The large reflectors give a good spread of light with it blending where it lights the figure.
Cheers

I use draftsmen's lamps like those on my bench, too, though I found that the plastic bases would crack over time. My bench consists of a frame made from 2x4's with a plywood top, so I've discarded the bases, drilled holes in various locations around the perimeter of the frame, and stick the pin at the bottom of the lamp's arm in those holes.

I use 60w incandescents, though, for all of my lighting, GE soft-glow lamps and their equivalent.

Prost!

I did find one in Staples but the store did not have the desk so I will be going to another store this week and trying to find the right one after that the hunt for the lamp.

Blimey ,

This has more episodes than Eastenders or Coronation Street !

The amount of care and time you are taking on getting a chair/desk/ and a lamp you must be after something very particular and special .....

......what chair did you get from Staples ?

Mark,
Then let us know when you have all three ! Then we can move onto subject matter. However, as said, get your bench set-up first!;)(y)

so far all I can find is a chair and for all whose that think I am an idiot or a fool just wait that is all .

That's the kind of thing the mad scientist says in a classic horror movie. "They think I'm a fool! They laughed at me! Well, just wait, and I'll show them! I'll show them all! Ah, ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!"

Is it a hobby bench you're putting together, or an underground lair?

Prost!

Has anyone tried any of the new halogen lamps (bulbs) for their workbench? I've used them in household fixtures but find the light is washed out, like light from fluorescent tubes.

Prost!

Hi Brad,

For this type of work, the best are LED lamps, eco friendly too. A typical brand is Actualite, polarised.

Thanks, Victor, your reply makes me realize that I meant to say LEDs, not halogens. We have Sylvanias, I think, in some of the fixtures at the theater I belong to, in our kitchen, for example. Those particular lamps cast a very grayish white light, like fluorescent tubes. I'll see if I can find Actualites at my local stores. I'm experimenting for when my cache of 60w incandescents finally runs out.

Prost!
