Table lamp gone bang, help needed :-)

Thanks all you have all really helped. I think I am going to get the old one fixed any how as it has been with me for quite a while, I ain't no Electrician and avoid anything to do with electrics so leaning on a mate for the fix.
That said it looks like I may have a light that I am going to grab tomorrow. A little later than I wanted but I filled the week with other things that needed doing. The good thing is hopefully this won't happen again as with my trusty old one fixed I will have a spare, so many thanks for all your help and for spending time to post
