My latest project is a slight conversion of Tartar Miniatures "The Fox" bust. I thought it would be fun to add a flapper dress on her. The fox stole is part of the kit, but I added the dress and embellished the head wrap a little. She is supposed to have a cigarette holder in her fingers but I haven't added that yet. For the dress, I tried to get the blocky, masculine form that was popular at the time (though she's...rather well endowed...). I was going to do fringe, but reading it seems that Hollywood's depiction of the flapper was incorrect. In the '20's fringe would have been very expensive (though when Hollywood depictions came around the actual embroidery and other embellishments were more expensive than fringe due to manufacturing advances making fringe easier to mass manufacture so lots of fringe in Hollywood movies, less other embellishments). Any comments/critiques are welcome. I see I need to clean up the hand a bit more. I'm hoping to finish it for MFCA.

Why not put something into the feature FOTM ( Figure of the Month ) as well ?

Thanks guys. Here's an update on the progress. I've been sketching out volumes and trying to get a good shiny effect on the head wrap and hair. The hair has to be blonde and the head wrap has to be a rich yellow, so I want to make sure there is contrast between the two. I'll go back later to fix some sloppy areas (like on the neck, the pearls, etc.). I need to add a catch-light in the eyes and go for a little more contrast on the face. The fox is a very rough sketch of shadows and the dress is just a basecoat. Still lots to do, but does the hair and head wrap look convincing?
