Just finished this vignette. It's my version of the Frank Miniatures Arminius vignette. 75 mm figures sculpted by the great Mike Blank. I just did a modification to the the main character to make him stand out more.
Hope you like it. Your feedback is much appreciated.
Enjoy.
Cheers,
Zeno

Hi Zeno

Mike Blank sculpts + Zeno artwork = great combination

Fine presentation as always , the colours look really good and very much our idea of these warriors , like the highlighting on all and the basework looks good as well

Out of interest what the modification did you do to the main figure ?

Great paintjob...bravo

Fabulous display and presentation and the muted and 'dark' colour pallet is perfect for this episode of history.

I love everything about it - great work!

Thanks Nap for the kind words! Much appreciated!
As Pete mentioned above, the first modification that I did was to replace the standard provided by the kit, with an eagle. The reason is that all 3 legions lost in the battle (XVII, XVIII and XIX) have been erased from the records by the romans. We don't know what symbols those 3 legions had on the standards. I didn't want to guess or use artistic license so I replaced the standard with an eagle.
Second modification was made to the Arminius posture. In the kit, he is presented with the shield in his left hand, covering about half of the figure. The figure is the focal point of the vignette and I decided not to hide the figure behind the shield. I put the shield on the ground, close to Arminius, to his right and changed the posture of his left arm by lowering the forearm along the body and adding the left hand. In this way the whole figure opened to the viewer.
There are simple modifications but changes the whole mood of the vignette. I tried to put my own signature on an already fantastic kit sculpted by Mike Blank. Only you guys, can say if it works. In my humble opinion, it does.
Cheers and thanks for the feedback!
Zeno
