Vergilius - regarding the whites, I painted them in oils. For his tunic, I used my normal white mix of White and Black (both W&N) + Old Holland Ochre (Old Holland) and I added some Italian Earth (Old Holland) to warm it up. For the shield, I wanted a cooler white. I dont remember exactly what I used (I should write these things down!) but I know I used Paynes Gray and maybe some Raw Umber (?).

Very nice! Sorry to be so late, but I've been going back through older posts looking at various clothing, leather, and equipment weathering techniques. This one is really great.
