Hi Guys

well is been a few months since my silly accident, cutting my thumb which stopped any modelling for a few months. Fortunately the surgeon is excellent and saved the thumb. Lost a little movement but I have been able toget back into modelling and the first undertaking was to have a go at a boxed dioram which i had in the back of my mind for a few years: a small group of US marines with a couple of Japs in the jungle behind them.

here are the results:

Hi Peter

Very pleased to hear that you are on the mend and back at the bench. And what a fine piece of work, so full of atmosphere - reminds me of scenes from the ‘Thin Red Line.’

Hi Peter. Sorry to hear about yr accident. At least y are on the mend.

My favourite genre. An excellent piece. Love the figures foliage, water, the atmosphere.

Hi guys

Peter - thanks; did you get my email re busts?
Victor - the plants are a mixture of stuff sold for dioramas and some small plastic plants sold for aquarium, all painted with acrylics.
Mobo - thanks

Peter

Hi Peter

Glad to hear your on the repair , and to see you back at the bench , very well thought out piece , highlights the dangers lurking , like the groundwork and the figure placement

Terry, Pete, Nap - thanks for the kind words. sorry for the delay in replying - just returned from a short holiday in the UK visiting my son.

Nap - i'll take some better photos, with a camera rather than the ipad!, and enter the diorama comp.

now i can get back tp some busts - a couple of unusual female busts coming soon.

Peter

Very nice work indeed. Doing a box diorama is something I want to try (at some point!), and seeing you pull it off so well is very encouraging.

Hi Nigel

thank you. This is my second boxed dio; my first used a group of flats - https://www.planetfigure.com/thread...styx-and-the-beer-cellar.431993/#post-1229180.

In some ways they are easier than normal dio, having to worry about one view point, on the other hand the building of the box itself needs some carpentry skills rather than modelling skills. So far I have avoided the need to add any lights, that adds another level of complexity but in some L have seen really add an atmospheric effect.

I think I will soon have a go at a third boxed dio - something very different from this one.
