I'm working on this fig :

My query is regarding the green shown on the kit box for his tunis and pants.
It seems a little too greenish , I have some research help[ here:

That's is some historical research , I'm interested in some modelling info.
Have you done this fig?
If so how did you do the uniform color?

Basicaly, he was first an officer in the Uhlans cavalry 1rd Rgt, and he served first as Scout, difficult to do that on horse during WWI so he accomplished his mission on planes...

Hence his uniform is the green of an Uhlan Officer

Sorry, but I must offer a small correction to that. The Prussian Uhlan regiments wore blue tunics, not green. The Bavarian Uhlans wore green, a dark green. But that's all moot, because by 1910, they wore field gray uniforms for field service. The colored uniforms were reserved for parades. The uniform depicted with this figure should be field gray.

The uniform may look greenish in the photo, because if I am not mistaken, the field gray color has a tiny bit of a slight greenish cast to it. If it looks any greener in that box art photo, I think that is a trick of the photograph.

Yeah, that discussion has the points I've read in other discussions about field gray. I'm certain we have one or two such discussions around here in the Planet, too.

I understand where the posters who say, "Field gray is green" are coming from, but for me, I still see it as a greenish gray, or a gray with a greenish tint. That is, the basic color is still a gray, whatever the tinge. It's not green like the green of the Jäger tunics, for example, nor is it a Loden, Kelly, nor a grass green. It's basically gray, though with a greenish tinge, tint, shade, or cast, to one degree or another. Frankly, I wind up using Tamiya's flat medium gray as my base color for field gray.

I see this has been moved to in progress.
Now I'll have to do the work under the keen eyes of members here.....
Base work continued with some laser work and staining:

Just a natural stain to enhance the crazy wood work.
A few more treatments to bring out the distressing and added detail to the base on the way.

WHOA there's an oldie!! =).
This was only our third figure (hence the number 12003). It was sculpted for me by the late Jim Payette 25 years ago. Jim was an 'oldie' in the figure hobby running with the likes of Terry Worster, Pat & Ollie Bird, Ron Hinote, Series 77, etc. In fact, I think some of the series 77 miniatures were named after the sculptors. So, there is a Series 77 'Payette' figure. Jim was my mentor early on and I learned a lot about the figure hobby from him. He sculpted almost all of my 120mm figures. Jim passed in the year 2000. He was a good friend , and I miss him=)

Anyway... I'll be watching this one closely. I can't wait to see it finished.

Try as I might I cant seem to grasp the acrylic wash system , either its too thin or too thick and I cant blend the colors. My usual now is to wash alla this off and go to oils as I can work those a little better.
