Hi friends.

I am thinking about the possibility of to paint a figure with a horse (a mounted horseman). I am looking for a dynamic figure (not static) but until now I never put special attention on this kind of figures. Then I need your assistance and I wonder what is your favourite horseman figure in 54mm or 70mm (brand, sculptor and a pic if it is possible).

Thanks a lot for your help.

Rafa

Hi Rafeal

I recommend the Pegaso, Cossack of the Imperial Guard, pic below. It may not be the period you are looking for, but its a lovely peice and has so many possibilities, I have built one already jumping over a disabled cannon, you could even add an extra figure that he may be spearing with his lance....

just my recommendation....

I agree with Dave. That's an amazing piece with excellent dynamic pose and groundwork possibilities.

Hi all!

Hi there!Sorry I cannot offer a picture(please,if any of the members can do it,give a pic!),but in this site:

www.soldiers.it

you can find code SMES-02.This is Siegfried (mounted German warrior attacking another German warrior).Sculpted by Adrianno Laruccia, one of the 3 best sculptors in the wolrd.(In my opinion Bill Horan,Raul Garcia LaTorre and Andriano Laruccia). It's in 54mm and it's pose it's one of the most dynamic ever sculpted in modeling figures.I'm gone paint it soon myself and I didn't have to think much offering it as an idea!

Siegried was a hero of a Saga(Epic Northen Poems). The scene is in early 5th Century A.D.The armors are replicas from archaelogical pieces found in North-Central Europe. The horse is a usual breed and as one it can be painted as you like.Generally a simple complex of figures to paint with no patterns or bordures, but Siegfried's cloak can be painted in a beautiful tartan!

Please,if anyone can do it,post a pic of this figure!

I hope you like my idea!
Cheerz!

Dear Rafa, you've hit in a subject quite close to my heart (and a lot of other people's as well judging by the response!)
I can state from experience that Metal Models are TOP quality and you won't find better elsewhere in every aspect of them. My only very minor gripe with them is that the faces can be a bit on the small side. The figure that Dave pointed out is a winner as well, as it is (relatively) simple enough not to intimidate a beginner.
M Model also make some really good mounted figures for VERY reasonable prices as well....
Also if you're a total beginner, get some 54mm Airfix or Historex horses, as they are pretty cheap, and whilst you can get better stuff elsewhere, as a beginner you'd be making your early mistakes on something cheap at least....
Please do let us know how you get on

Thanks my friends. Very good stuff here!!!
now it's time to decide!...

I will tell you my decission.
Thanks again,

Rafa
