As a lover of figures and History,my great desire was to paint bust depicting the last ByzantineEmperor, Constantine XI Palaeologos. The Emperor died fighting the Turks at Constantinople's walls on dawn of 29th May 1453.

here is the topic about its building http://www.planetfigure.com/threads/the-immortal-emperor-1453.48922/

Very nice rendition. My only comment would be that the reference work showed him to have a 'forked' beard. This is not a criticism of the of the finished piece just a note on historical accuracy. I may be wrong as I have very limited knowledge of this period.

Taking in mind the illustration of the 19th c. depicting Costantine in a parade dress and armor, Ken you are right !
But I think that the illustrator is heavily influenced by his contemporary fashion (the british-like helmet or the forked beard). I have not seen ever a byzantine ecclesiastical picture depicting military or other male saint in "forked" beard. So, I desided, even I would like to make him like the well known illustration, not to "shave" his chin !

Ken, I really appreciate your contribution in the topics about Constantine.

Theodore this is a great subject and scratch built. I see that this is WIP so continue the good work.(y)
Πέρασε καλύτερα στο κράνος τα κίτρινα σχέδια γιατί κάποια είναι γκρί
