i've not had a lot of time for painting of late but i have managed to finish this wonderful little Ademola kit off. painted entirely with Citadel paints and inks except for a coat of Tamiya clear over the eyes which has made photographing them impossible with a flash which also washed out a lot of his detail in regards to his hair. I didn't bother painting the fancy patterns on his sleeves as it was always going to be a rushed job and i thought the blue contrasted with the rest of the colours

Knocked up over the space of 2-3 nights, I took it to my last trade show in the beautiful inland NSW city of Wagga Wagga which is the home of model truck builders in this country but rather short on figure painters (i hope my trip has helped change that) and this helped the little guy into first place for factual figures.

An extremely fun kit to paint with very good fit of all the parts (4 in all) and no moulding blocks placed in annoying spots. He has a mouthful of a title but we nicknamed him Stan the man....

Mate, as I said to you on the phone last week, congratulations on winning a first in the figures comp with this bust. Well done.

If I may suggest, don't use the flash when photographing your models. It washes out all the subtle details and flattens out the contrasts between highlights and shadows.

Thanks again Tony,

I'm just experimenting with a new camera in the house, much easier to use but not as high tech as the Canon 350ES or whatever its called

As stated in the other thread my photography leaves a lot to be desired and may get the flatmate who loves macro photography do all my pictures from now on

Nice painting but i do also think that the flash tends to get rid of alot of the detail. If your good with cameras i would reccomend turing to ISO up and the appeture down (if you got the setting to appeture priority) and try taking the picture like that. Lately i have been trying to take pictures with a longer shutter speed (on the shutter priority setting).

Im sorry if this floated over your head (or if your better than me with a camera and im just retlling you info.. lol)

Anyway, best regards,
Daniel

Looks a very good painted bust to me. It should be, because you have winning piece.
But what i see is a total washed out figure by the flash of the camera.
So, if you have the time take a new picture and let us all enjoy this bust.
