While going through my grey army, I found these two letters (snail mail) from Chuck regarding missing parts. He was the nicest person and always look after his customers.

I just received the attached notice regarding an upcoming auction of the inventory of Red Lancers Miniatures as well as personal collection of Painted Figures of the late Charles "Chuck" Robinson.
It will be on April 17th and April 18th this upcoming weekend. It will be an online auction only.
I will try to attach the notice. If that does not work (never tried to create a thread before), the web site is www.hassingercourtney.com for photos and bidding.

He was a cracking bloke and I met him and purchased from him numerous times over the years when I still lived in Canada. He did love a smoke for what it's worth. Did he pass away from the virus does anyone know? The collection of painted figs in his shop and home was amazing to say the least. One of my favourite memories is that he always kept an MG 42 beside the desk where he did his business... but hey ho that's America for ya;)
Cheers from sunny Cumbria.

As far as I'm aware, Chuck died of cancer several months ago. He'd fought it for a long time. He was a good, honest man. I dealt with him over the years, finally met him at MMSI in 2014. His is a great loss to the hobby.

Yellowcat,
That was Chuck! I miss him to his day and I will always cherish my memories of going to his shop and seeing him at the shows.

Red Lancers prided itself with finding and buying those rare and unique figure kits that were hard to obtain, especially from overseas and all over the world.

Recall that this was back in the infancy of the web before Facebook and we were using AOL, slow Dial-Up modems, Netscape, and Microsoft Explorer browsers. This was before Javascript and PERL coding....all the fancy webpages we now take for granted. It was nice to have one hobby shop that stocked figure kits from around the globe. Back then, competition wasn't as fierce and many people didn't go into the online hobby shop business compared to now.

Now with Facebook and fast WiFi, many sculptors can sell kits directly to the buyer without going through the Middle Man hobby shop.

I bought from Red Lancers before and the owners had excellent email and phone customer service. I will miss them as an online hobby shop.

I agree that there are some excellent Lot bargains to be had with this auction. Yes, one can survive and make a career and living in the hobby shop despite what other people criticize and downplay.

...Did he pass away from the virus does anyone know?...

He passed away from complications of cancer and diabetes, in 2018. He made it to our, that is, the MFCA, show in May that year. To me, it seemed that being at the show revitalized him, and once again, he was the Old Chuck. We were glad to get to see him one last time.

It was a tough summer for the hobby, because shortly after Chuck passed, long-time toy soldier collector Bill Lango passed away suddenly. Bill owned and operated Vintage Castings, Inc, which specialized in American dimestore toy soldiers, and through which he published "Toy Soldier Review". But he was probably best known for staging the annual East Coast Toy Soldier Show every year in Hackensack, NJ. Losing both Chuck and Bill left a big hole that will never really be filled.

But that is the way of the world.

I can some of this collection ending up on Ebay in the coming weeks as there is alot of duplication. If you are thinking of bidding outside of the USA, check the auctioneers buyers premium , shipping costs and any import duties it may add substantially to your Bargain buy.

I registered on Auction Zip but I can’t return to the lot listing. It’s no longer there. Now it’s on invaluable. Does anyone know it was pulled from auction zip?

Seeing Chuck, standing behind his tables at most any show you went to in the USA,made me feel all was right with the world .I could always count on Chuck to help my wife,at Christmas or birthday. I’ve lost 2 friends who helped me enjoy the world of miniatures John Pietras and Chuck. Rip sirs

Hi,
Does anyone know if the time indicated is when the auction ends? Or is it the time it begins? If it refers to the time the auction begins, there's no indication of how long the auction will last.
