A very cool 1:0 scale resin bust in 11 pieces by Cipri Miniatures. Extremely well sculpted and cast with incredible fine detail. No flow marks. No parting lines to clean up. No voids to fill. Just a few minutes simple work with your trusty No.11 Xacto blade and you're ready to go.

Hi Rob, no it doesn't come with a stand.
Rick

Is that common with busts these days?

Really nice character to the face on the pirate, but that bird is a bit of a mongrel. Hooked beak and webbed feet, will take a bit of hunting in a twitcher's guide to find some colours for that one

Hi Rob

Sometimes bases are included but probably 90% of my GA haven't got them ...I use a brass rod

As for the birdy .....I reckon it might be something like a cormorant ......

I hasten to add I don't "twitch" ...just googled ! ( not that there's anything wrong with bird watching )

I wouldn't worry too much about that. The whole piece has a definite semi-fantasy vibe to it that borders on caricature. I don't mean that in a bad way though. It's a quality sculpt full of character that I'm sure will make for a very enjoyable paint, with all manner of different palette options.

It's on my radar.

Yes pretty much anything "Pirate" related is going to be romantic fantasy these days.

It is a great sculpt, I really like it. The face is wonderful and the sculptor has very cleverly kept the whole thing balanced by countering that odd bird on one shoulder with the extension of the hat over the other. From just looking at the picture of the unassembled pieces it should not work, very skilfully done.

Hi Rick

Great start ...ginger eh ....nice idea .....looking good so far

Be interesting what you do with that eye .......reckon it's the Foo who had a go at it with the beak

Following with interest

Happy benchtime

Thanks, Kev, I may just leave the milky eye as is, or maybe add a faded iris showing thru. Not sure yet. Damn Foo birds.....

It's fun to charter an accountant
and sail the wide accountant sea.
To find,, explore the funds off shore
and skirt the shoals of bankrupt sea.
It can be manly in insurance
we'll up your premiums semiannually.
It's all tax deductible, we're fairly incorruptible
we're sailing on the wide accountant sea!

Hi Rick

Well no milky eye there ....looking good so far ...might be me piccy looks a bit out of focus?

Beard colours looking good .....reckon I would do different coloured beads on the dangly bits .....ear rings

Look forward to seeing more on this old sea dog

Happy benchtime

Hi Kev,
Yeah he is slightly out of focus, good eye. Could be old shaky fingers here or caused by pic being enlarged a couple of times. Milky eye idea didn't work out. Tried it a few times and all it looked like was a bad paint job.
