This is wonderful Ritchie - looking really good. Like the way you have creatively used the Airfix parts. I didn't know of the painting either until your post so thanks for sharing that too. Notice you mention it may be complete for White Rose (Xmas bash do you mean?) so hope to see the model and your good self then.
Cheers
Mat

Hi Steve,
I hope you are well mate and things are all good on the home front. Hopefully you are getting some time for you. Nice to see you posting back on here, I'll give you a bell in the very near future.
Thank you for looking in, I have always loved this painting, I agree would be nice in 120mm.
cheers
Richie

Hi Mat,
Thanks mate, you should check out some of the other paintings by Alphonse De Neuville great source of inspiration as are many of the other artists. I look forward to meeting up again at the White Rose. I would like a few other pieces finished by then, not a productive year so far for me.
cheers

Hi Richie,
That's looking like a lovely build. It's definitely something that stands out, so good on you for going after this onen there is a fair degree of difficulty in this one. Looking forward to the colouring in part.
Regards
Chris.

Oh my goodness, Richie:
You're such a gentleman. . . you're sending replies to each person
who has responded. I must commend, here, for your valiant effort. Now
on to the painting. I can see why you got such a fine inspiration from
that painting. . . it is so touching: man and his noble steed. And your
actual piece; the composition still retains "at least for me" that same
touching atmosphere. Also, I feel the grasses lend so much to this setting.
And like the other fine Planeteers, I am eager to see what will be coming
with you further efforts. Congrats, on a very good start.

I love it and I love it even more for being a 54mm-my absolutely favourite scale.Everything about it is perfect and you've manged to capture even the Victorian mood of the original painting.Top class.

Oda.

Hi Chris,
Thanks mate, I know you are a big fan of this period an apologies for the late reply, I was going to post when I had moved on with the painting, but a 200mm Colour Sgt. Bourne and another 54mm vignette "Last Sleep Of The Brave" have gotten in the way.

Hi Chris,
Thanks mate, glad you like the subject matter, apologies for the late reply. I suppose this scene could be replicated for any period from Ancient Greek to WW2.

Hi Huw,
Thanks mate, I'm just in a building phase at the moment, so no brushes really wielding as yet. Again apologies for the late reply.

Hi Rick,
Thanks mate, and thank you for your very kind words. Apologies for the late reply, I was hoping to have had the paints out by now but it's just not happening at the moment.

Hi Oda,
Thanks mate, 54mm is not my usual scale, I normally work in 120mm, but these old Airfix horses do lend themselves to these type of vignettes. Glad you like my depiction of this wonderful painting.
Thank you all again for your very kind words and support it does go a long way.
cheers

Hi Kev,
Thank you mate, now if you are going to keep coming onto my threads and propositioning me with banana's I'll have to report to a moderator I know.
cheers

No problem Richie. As one of my role models, John Wayne, once said "never apologise, it's a sign of weakness" ;)

Hi All,
Whilst the paint is still wet I decided to crack on with this one. I have based coated the Lancer and started to apply oils to the face. I have painted the lance but will need some refining. I have based coated the horse and applied the first coat of oils. The base groundwork and grass has been initially sprayed.
cheers

You've forgotten the knife with a tool for getting boy scouts out of horses hooves, which is probably what the problem is here!
