Hallo Al.
my big compliment for your painting of Iron Jacked. He was one of the most famous Comanche chiefs and the father of Peta Nokona who married Cythia Ann Parker a captured white girl. Tehy had three children, the oldes Quanah Parker become the most famous chief of the Comanche.
Iron Jacked was killed by Texas Rangers, when he tried to negociate under the white flag.
Teh shield is shown in the Osprey booklet "Comanche" but actually is from the Berlandier collection. Berlandier was a explorer who traveld on the southern Plains in 1830, unharmed by Indian tribes. He was guest of the Comanche and gave a very positive view of this tribe.
I would not reccomend the Osprey booklet "Comanche" it is one of the worst books written on the Comanche, full of outdated white propaganda, without any understanding for the Comanche culture and mentality.
I spoke with representats of the Comanche tribe about this book and they feel insulted and defamed in this book,
Again Al, grat work im very much impressed.
Many greatings
Bruno
