I would love that David. As far as I'm to understand, Chicago is the big North American show, just ahead of Valley Forge. Even so, I still have to figure the average UK/European show would be even bigger still. On top of that, most of the big name painters and sculptures are more likely to found at the shows over there.
I truely hope that a couple of those names will make their way over the big water to compliment the North American big names.

I am really chomping at the bit the get to Chicago, I'm even going to throw a couple of figs on the table... I am fully prepared to take the beating to my self esteem from putting my humble work next to the awesome level of painting I expect to find there. Let my figs see what they SHOULD look like.

Save your pennies Colin. A couple of us from out here on the great frozen prairie are planning on taking in Euro next year or the year after. I announced to the missus I am putting aside some money each month specifically for that trip. It would be awesome to have a wave of Canadians hit the leas cliff hall! We'll plot strategy in Chicago, see you there.

I've been going to Euro for 15 years, the last 4 as a trader and I have always enjoyed it. This year was our best ever at Euro as it has been for all the regular shows we've attended; this may be due to an upturn or we may just be starting to get things right! With regard to costs and returns Euro probably isn't at the top sales wise ( Salute & Telford are) but as a marketing exercise it is worth every penny. We have a great position in the Leas which gives plenty of room for people to stop and talk to us which is a vital part of the business. We were pretty much flat out until 1 o'clock on Saturday and still quite busy 'til 3. Sunday was considerably quieter which was fine by me as it gave me time to catch up with everyone I wanted to see and look at the competition tables. I've got to know a lot of people through Euro and I met even more this year; I think my business still owes Euro for making it what it is. The hotels may be iffy, the competition entries may be down and the Leas Cliff Hall may have seen better days but they are only parts of Euro, it is so much bigger than the sum of it's parts and I wouldn't miss it for the world! :D

Mike Blank, Alan and Marion Ball will be there. Alan of course sculpted the 75mm Ellsworth Zouave for the Shows Anniversary this year. Doug Cohen always has a huge display, Jason Green, Rod Curtis (Bassman), Mike Stevens, Mike Cramer are just a few of the can't miss artists. If you like armor then you know who Chris Mrosko, Dan Tisconcik and Greg Cihler are.
By all means bring your entries, there are all levels of figures on display. I want to see those cossacks out there.

Good folk of Planet Figure

I attended Euro last year on the Saturday and this year on the Sunday. It was crazy last year - I was there early. This year I got to the show just after 10.00am. It was in my opinion quiet - but Sundays are always quiet in the UK, Sundays people come out for a mooch around then bug---... er clear off home early for roast lunch or down the pub for a pint.

I saw a couple of traders first but then down to the competition room. I was quite amazed that the shelves and displays were not fully loaded like last year - last year the display stands were full - I mean full. This year I was a little disappointed - however I could be mistaken - Sunday's may also mean some competition folk have had their stuff judged and cleared off home. I did however over hear a few conversations of how there were less entries this year.

I then did my buying from the traders and was finished by 12.00 noon. I got to meet Yiannis of YS casting and Pietro of Pegaso. Two very nice chaps of this hobby/industry.

By 12.30 I was gone. The lack of traders this year was disappointing. I travelled down for an hour and a half paid £10 to gain entry into a show that I do feel was lacking.

That really sticks in my craw - the £10 entry fee. The same entry fee is at Telford - that is worth it. £10 into the Leas is not worth it. I felt last year it was excessive - this year has done it in for me. I don't think I'll attend Euro again. The lack of Clubs was also disappointing. I saw some friendly faces but to be honest I see those great people at Figure World and Telford - I don't need to be fleeced of £10 to see them. But if you are a member of the IPMS then Telford is free entry!

I probably won't see as much talent on show as there is at Euro...that's a given. But I do feel the entrance fee is a rip off...there was a lot less there this year than last and if that is what to expect next year then I this is my last Euro...shame as it was my second visit ever.

I am not sure if there is a little aloofness for Leas Cliff Hall - but I was disappointed with Truck and Track this year too. Hornchurch is a bigger and in my opinion better show and is very friendly and at £3.00 entrance fee much better value for money.

I'm so looking forward to the show. Admission price be damned! All those big names on hand, very exciting.
Only one cossack will make the trip. Finished him last night!

Been following this thread with interest and it maybe that I have missed something, in most of the posts there are posts about the social side. During my visit I found it hard to connect with other modelers. Maybe I need to join in the social side, note to self for next year maybe!!!!!

Join the social side at your peril it can have an adverse effect on your cash flow :D but good fun .
