Janne, Ian,
Wonderful ideas from both of you, I'll certainly take them into consideration for some future projects. The only thing is that-although my customer claims "He'll take every figure" I make-I have to be thoughtful to only make those figures that could appropriately find a place on a model rail road. So I guess a 'Treasure Island' figure is going to be out of the question. : ( Someday I hope to not be so broke so I can switch to making figures just to satisfy my own self. Until then I'll keep trying to sneek in something interesting to me that still might pay.

Right now I'm kind of working on a generic Keystone Cop figure-generic in that he is of no particular character-which isn't pushing the limit on what is acceptable to the train crowd too much I think. Harold Lloyd I think would make a nice figure as well but can't figure an exeptable way to present his signature eye glasses, any suggestions or ideas would be welcome. The only thing is whatever method it has to be castable.

Jeff,
Thank you, I'm glad to hear from you. I'd be interested in seeing your Chaplin figure, wonder how I missed it to begin. Is he fallen on his butt as in this picture?

Yes I understand Ray - that is why some of these came to mind- love the 'keystone' idea - hey what about 1920's movie camera, lights, clapboard and crew - I think phoenix may have done them before but would make a different idea

Nice to see some of your new work Ray. Seems like it has been a while. Since you asked I will post a picture. Looking at the photo now there is so much I would do different if I sculpted it today.

Ian,
Not a bad idea, the film crew, but honestly not my area of interest. Still if some one should ask for it specifically I'd probably give it a go. I'm certain a little research into the subject would spark my interest, that's how most figures work for me anyway.

Thanks for the idea and other contributions.

Jeff,
Wonderful Chaplin, Chap, thank you for showing. I can only wish I had seen it before doing my own. I like the liveliness and obvious loss of balance you've managed to get into the figure.

I don't think I've ever, or ever will, make a figure that I wouldn't later wish I'd done differently. There is so much to learn to get a figure just right, and so many guys that simply do it better than I, I can only continue striving to get up to their standard. Oddly I'm grateful for it at least when these guys show their work, thank you for showing yours.

Ray,just wanted to say well done on these. i looked at some Tamiya 1;48 figs in the box and the heads were tiny! i certainly couldnt sculpt them True Scale!! even with a visor.
i think you did a bang up job and i really like the Chaplin fig. very characterful mate.

all the best ---- tim

Tim,
Thank you very much, I really appriciate your comments. I might point out though that the Tamia figures I've looked at so far are not true to scale. They are in fact very small for 1/48 and don't really fit into any scale, not just because of their height but also their build, tiny little buggers, much closer to teen or pre-teen in size.

I'm posting a couple new figures now, so I hope you will enjoy them as well and will look forward to any comments you care to make.

Ray
