Hi Carl,

The scarf is really good and original! You can see it is made of wool! Brilliant.
Is it still possible to tone it down a wee bit as the blue is quite bright. Maybe a very light green filter over the blue will do the job?

Cheers,
Adrian

I agree that the scarf is very original. I see what Marc says as well and i think there are like three catchlights on every eye? Maybe thats why he cant see the pipils and i cant either to be honest. Glad to see the fleshtones alot warmer on this one. Way to go.

not to sure about the scarf?
Carl.

Carl ,
Love the scarf , but I would probably tone it down a little more , he looks as though he has been in the front a long time so I suspect the scarf would be dirtier ...unless of course it was just received from the wife !!! ,,,how did you paint the scarf , looks really like wool material ?

Like what you have done with the flesh tones , personally I would probably feather in the cheeks a bit more to make them less distinctive but a great job and following this post as its on my bench ..wish I could find more time to paint !!!!

Be interesting to see how you deal with the kharki (lets have your mixes then !!!!)

Hi Carl,

The scarf is excellent mate, but the eyes don't look right in the photo. I'm sure they look much better in real life than they do in the photo, but something just doesn't look right. If I work out what it is I'll let you know.

I like your skin tone mate, and the rest will come together. The scarf looks great and will set it off nicely - the thing I don't like IMHO about this bust and other busts I've seen is that it looks like an old man of 55+ no matter how you generally paint it, I would personally lose the moustache and try it that way, perhaps with a stubble instead. Just my tuppenies worth.

Hi Carl,

Thanks for the new pics mate.

The eyes look better, however I still think they need some red.

Try adding a thin wash of red along the bottom of the eye ball and the inside corner of the eye itself.
