Hello,
With Boston 2005 looming around the corner, I'm sure many of you like myself have been struggling with the idea of transporting your figures safely. Personally, I don't travel that much for shows, therefore, I haven't developed a sophisticated method that would worth sharing with you. It would be nice to see and hear about what are some of the ideas many of you have developed for this purpose. If anyone has a description that would like to share with us on how to build a simple but secure box for travel; this would be greatly apreciate it.
Thanks,
Sam

If you look at the lastest issue of HM Magazine there is a great article on this very subject. I think it is issue #48 and Carson van Osten I believe is the author.

Thanks for the info. I read this article, it's great for local travel, however, I don't think it's ideal for travel accross the country, especially with airport security issues, etc...

I use the following method. I've found it great for two reasons. It's very simple (like me) and cheap (ok then, still like me)
I took a plastic toolbox, the kind we have for sale in England at DIY stores, I think in America you call them hardware stores. Or homewhere stores or something.
Anyway all I did was to drill a couple of holes in the bottom of it, then subsequently drill a screw through the hole and into the base of the figures(s) to be transported. Hey presto - it's rock solid and quick to do. Then simply close the lid and the fasteners on it. For transport it's great as the figures are totally enclosed and as such protected from external damage. Security shouldn't be a problem as all you have to do is simply open the lid for any prying eyes. To take the figures out, simply unscrew them...because you haven't forgot to bring a screwdriver have you?
Hope this helps.

Hey Anthony
My method exactly! A note of caution, some airlines (especially Canadian) have changed the dimensions of carry on luggage. Make sure your toolbox is within limits and will fit in the overhead compartment!! Nothing more depressing when they make you put your figures in the hold!
Cheers
Mark

I do the same as Blind Pew and Lancer, but I have a piece of pegboard with small legs on it and a lift out handle fitted to the inside floor of the toolbox. I screw my figures to the pegboard, and can lift the whole thing out for inspections, etc. Also, it's much easier to load the tool box if the carrier comes out. I "stole" this from someone, maybe one of you !, at World Expo 1, and have used it since without a problem or mishap. Cheap and highly recommended.

Great idea Pat. I neglected to mention how awkward it really can be at times to get the figures in & out. I'll have a bit of a rethink. I was ready to trade the awkwardness for the security in transit that this method offers.
Thanks for the advice!
