Trumpeter de Tirailleur Senegalais 1914
54mm resin
Sculpted by Jean-Marie Daniel
Painted by Jean-Noel Resin
16 resin parts

This is the first of JMD's line to catch my eye. The gray resin figure is in the 54mm category but acyually measures out to be 65mm in height.

Packaged in sealed envelops inside a light cardboard box the 12 resin parts come in a gray color. There is a color guide plus a photo of the rear of the figure included.

Above you see the parts out of the box with some of the loose parts coming off their mold block due to poor packaging on JMD's part.

Above you see the four views of the head showing the attention to detail of the facial expression and detail of the hat.

Above you see the four views of the main torso with what appears to be a slight paunch as you might find in an older soldier. The attention to detail and drapery are excellent. The actual fingernails shown on the left hand are well done.

Above you see the right arm and hand holding the trumpet. There was no trumpet cord attached or cast separately in this kit.

Above is the separate cast rifle. The box art shows a rifle sling but none was included in the kit.

Conclusion:
Although I love the subject matter and especially the excellent sculpting I was greatly disappointed to find several parts shown in the box art not included in the kit.
1. Trumpet cord shown - not included in kit
2. rifle sling shown - not included in kit
3. broken parts off mold block due to lack of protective packaging.

JMD has some beautiful figures on the market but should be careful about showing parts in the box art that are not actually in the kit. I would still buy the figure due to the excellent sculpting but can not recommend it due to missing parts.

Guy,

Do you find the rifle out of scale or too thin compared to the figure? It looks too small from the box art.

The sculpting is great and has lots of character but the rifle disappoints me. It's a shame that JMD should assume modelers will just add slings and cords from their own parts box, while other kits usually include a lead or tin foil patch for such things.

I would still buy it for the wonderful sculpting... Just leave out the rifle like one of the examples above;)

Hello

Yes Jason, the rifle is too short (5mm) ... you can see here a simply transformation. An other problem...on the "As de carreau", if you want to be historical correct, there is only one hand tool ... you must supprime one
