Although I'm an oil painter I thoroughly enjoyed the videos. I particularly liked the way they trot along at a decent pace, unlike some where you watch a colour being mixed on a plate for 20 minutes.
Can't say I missed a commentary which often slows the process down to a boring chore. I think that most of us regardless of our preferred medium can easily understand what's going on.
There's always something to learn from a painter of MJ's quality, a wee bit of text rather than narrative would have been a bonus but the fact it's not there does not detract from an excellent and much appreciated resource.
Cheers

So is Ron Teasung.

Just a general comment but life would be so much more pleasant if people would not be so pissed off by little things. So many people commenting positively, why focus on the one negative comment?

Off enjoying the videos now...

In general I absolutly agree and why not posting a critical feedback if something could be improved - but why posting a negative feedback in an offensive way and carry on to do so in the end mentioning off-topic moderator friends ????- I would expect much more style from a long time member. Everyone can have a bad day but this is most irritating.
Back to the videos - Del put it together - I feel the same and signed up for Man-Jin`s line on youtube. Well done and if you are not blind you can learn a lot. Nice soundtrack btw.
Cheers, Martin

I am an oilpainter. However I do like watching these video's. I am amazed at the techniques shown by the painter. I also appreciate the fact that Taesung shared them here on the forum.

Having said that I would also like to point out that (in terms of marketing) a potentially larger audience (= potential customers ) could possibly have been reached if English subtitles would have been provided to these truly excellent video's (chapeau). It's one thing to see what someone is doing but the message can be delivered much more powerfull by telling what is going on. No pun intended of course.

So in that respect Ron does have a point. And he's free to express this opinion. Maybe he could have forwarded his message a wee bit more diplomatically. But he didn't. He can be a bit blunt so what? He is ok but grumbles from time to time. Does he need to be punished because he's been a bad boy?

What sentence do you want for him Taesung: banishment from the forum? Well if that's the case you might as well apply for my banishment while your at it. Because I said roughly the same thing Ron has, be it in a more diplomatic way. But let me make it quite clear that I wont let myself bullied by you because that is what you are doing to Ron right now!

Because that is what is going on isn't it: Ron misbehaved a little bit and now another forum member wants to see 'blood' (figuratively speaking of course). That is disproportional to say the least.

So what is going to happen now? Are we to remain forever trapped in this apparent stalemate with both sides being unable to give in? Or is it about time to take a deep breath, swallow one's mistaken sense of pride, shake hands and go on with life? Dealing with really important things.

My roots are on the Balkan. I am very, very proud of that. But people there are a bit more hotheaded then in the rest of Europe. I even have Tzigane blood in me. If however I can take things lightheartedly surely can you gentlemen.

Some good points there Paul , and yes I should have been more diplomatic but had a couple of wee sherries that night :)

As for being bullied well that will never happen to me , I don't see the point of being a keyboard warrior though.
Time and time again moderators have got to step in and separate the the schoolboy squabbles , these guys do this for nothing so why give them hassle .
Has some suggested I should be banned and given the bums rush or maybe even executed :D

Sherry............................... ? For God's sake man you live North of the border. You should have 1 - 10 wee drams. A 'bad' habit you picked up while earning your medals for Fiat no doubt?

No one asked for any form of 'capital punishment'. I just happen to think that T50 unfairly is a bit too persistent. So that could be the ultimate form of satisfaction if an appointment to settle the matter once and for all at the village green at 06.00 hrs tomorrow morning would fail. :D

There are a number of "keyboard warriors" on here....I include myself among them from time to time....there are also a few members who love to shout "close the thread" at the slightest opportunity.....
All of the above....and many other incidents...are part of 'forum' life...
Ron has pulled me out of a few situations in the past with a well timed comment or PM...bless him...
In this instance he pulled back stating he didn't wish to "get in a bun fight"....but was further baited....that to me...was the real bad behaviour!

As for the core of the matter...the videos....IMHO...they are good for those that use acrylics....less so for those that would like to try them.....why.....because of the lack of spoken....or written explanations....other than colours/mediums used....
For instance...it would have been useful to know the drying times between applications of colour....rather than a hairdryer appearing....
I met Man- Jin Kim a few years ago at Euro...a more pleasant/friendly/polite person you could not wish to meet....but English is not his first language...that doesn't take away the fact that he is a top notch painter...as the videos show..

:ROFLMAO:

@Kagemusha. Well put. I am guilty too of applying my own no doubt ill perceived conception of 'digital chivalry'. And by doing that perhaps unintentionally raking up the fire.

So as for now Parcival is going to get of his horse and put his brilliantly shining suit of armour in the closet.

Now that we have taken such a deep look into the situation around Ron`s keyboard it might be fair to try to put yourself into Taesung`s shoes.
I don`t see a paralell to Paul`s post because the word "useless" implies that the videos without an English (of course:rolleyes: ) soundtrack / narrative are good for nothing and nobody. The sherries obviously did not stop Thursday night and in the following more rude comments were posted ending up with the hint to moderator-friends that could step in and close the thread in favor of the person who started the bunfight that was already raging.
I can imagine how Taesung felt and that he and Man-Jin are offering their time and talent for free (like moderators do) and did not even get the slightest respect. Now the roles of victim and intoxicated keyboardwarrior seem to get reversed - I doubt that it will calm down the situation.
No blood - no pistols at dawn - no need to close a thread or cry out for the mods but maybe an apology would be a mature and sober reaction.
My final two cents!
Cheers, Martin

Well Martin I don't see where I followed up with more rude comments , I am doing all i can to keep this civilised considering my Scottish Italian temperament with some Irish thrown in also .
I was not the one shouting out names in capital letters .
By the way I don't drink sherry:rolleyes:

Guys.

I apologize for not willing to sit back and take any insensitive,
offensive comments being thrown around in the thread and
"persistently" returning the favor to each and every single one
of Ron's comments the same way.

That was very un-PlanetFigure-like on my part.

Now I realize that the roles have been switched and find
myself being a bigger bully in some members' view for
doing so.

I do hope you all realize that everyone has a temper and
personality here.
But we are not displaying them in order to have a polite
and peaceful exchanges.
One can not break this, initiate a negative or offensive comment
and expect:
1) others to understand his personality or suck it in,
2) to decide when to end the exchange on his own terms,
3) to have rude reaction from others in same level of severity.
Sometimes, karma comes back with a higher interest rate than
one anticipates.

If one is not ready for these, he should save it for whoever that cares.

Well T50 it is nice to see you are using my first name ,perhaps yours would go a long way to smoothing things out (y)

Once again, save it for whoever that cares.
If you want to discuss a guideline to how people should react to your action, start your own thread.

Well Martin I don't see where I followed up with more rude comments
Point taken - still the first one was way beyond a critical feedback without a reason. The others in a way helped stirring the pot.
I am doing all i can to keep this civilised considering my Scottish Italian temperament with some Irish thrown in also .
Can´t see that considering my straight German heritage - all way down from the Teutoburg forest :cautious:;)
By the way I don't drink sherry:rolleyes:
Then don`t drink as well wee sherry:arghh: or whatever lets your fingers slip on the keyboard

Not my "keyboard war" - just thought it fair to support the victim (= the one that did not fire the first shot) - so I finish posting on this thread.
- I would PM Taesung and settle this thing, Ron!

Cheers, Martin
