Och laddie.............. all it might take is a blonde wig, some make up, suspenders and half a bottle of Glenfarclas (I'd say the 15 year old gives the best whisky in the glass. And by glass I don't mean a bloody snifter) down your throat and maybe yea could nae tell the difference............................. :ROFLMAO: :D

It's really quite beyond me what all this has to do with instructional painting video's. I hope they won't throw us out of the class :nailbiting:

let me hijack this thread by talking about figure painting...
:p

I really like these videos, commentary or not because it shows how the artists practices brush control. Trying to learn painting via static tutorials (pictures on the web or text descriptions ) is very hard for us beginners because it cant show brush control. My eureka moment was seeing painting buddha and ben komets painting, seeing his paint consistency and how he handled the brush.
These videos are similar, seeing how he is using small amounts of thin paint and blending it into the high spots on the cheeks.
for something like figure painting written words are next to useless to me, pictures are a bit better, videos are getting there, but the best is painting in a group that includes accomplished painters willing to help. and of coarse nothing beats practice!

would english narration help? sure. but there is much to learn by simply watching. Thanks much for these tutorials, I very much appreciate them!

Well that would be a terrible Mistake'a to Make'a

Agreed that the best thing about videos is that you're able to observe all those things not shown in articles or SBSs. How to hold a brush and figure, how long to use the brush before rinsing it, etc, etc. It is these things that make someone's 'style'...even while using the same colours different painters get different results.
Have unfortunately not been able to finish watching for lack of time and opportunity, but will surely get back to it.

Glad to see this thread moderating itself by now, in a good way! :)
Amazing to see how many words were triggered by one brief initial comment....
Anyway, we're all people with emotions and fuses, some shorter than others. :-P
It does bring some spice to the forum sometimes and judging by the thread view count, many members do love to watch a fight! :)

Cheers,
Adrian

I think you let yourself down a bit T50,by going off on one, because Ron stated his opinion. While "useless" might have not been the best choice of word to use,he still has the right of freedom of speech. It's your 1st amendment,is it not.As the beatles song goes Let It Be.

not to be "that guy" but freedom of speech only applies to government silencing speech. this is a private forum and the mods can go ahead and silence anyone they want for whatever reason they want. Also that means you can say whatever yo want in public, the government cant silence you but you can be fired or suffer other repercussions.

I liek painting models. its fun.
