A Fixture
Hi everyone!
Here is my WIP of Andrea's 90mm U-Boat Captain.
I have always wanted to do a U-Boat Captain Figure, but the ones that have been availiable over the years just didn't seem to do it for me, so when I saw this one that Andrea released last year, I had to have it.
First up is the Mount for it.I didn't go too much on the White Metal one that came with the Figure, and being on a Soldering kick when I started it, I decided to re-do it in Brass, which I'm fairly happy with the way it turned out.
Here is the Figure assembled and mounted up for test fitting, but gaps are yet to be filled in with Magic Sculpt Putty.
With the bench being Wood painted over with a Dark Grey, I decided to try and replicate the wood texture using Acrylics, over painted with Burnt Umber Oil Paint, with which I will add some Maskol before spraying the Grey and then rub off the Maskol hopefully replicating some chipping of the paint revealing a bit of the wood underneath. The woodgrain is overkill I know, but I thought it was a good chance to get some woodgrain painting practice in.
Finally on to the first stages of painting the Figure itself.I still have not used any Clear Coats yet to dull down the shiny areas.....When I painted the Fleshtones of the face, I didn't do the hands at the same time, so when I tried to mix up some more for the hands I just couldn't get it to look right, so I ended up sanding off the detail of the hands, applying a couple of coats of Mr Surfacer and depicted him wearing Gloves.
All comments welcome, and thanks for looking!
