Hi all - just finished this one; YOUNG miniatures 1/10 bust of a U-boat Commander c. 1942. I opted to go with the grey leather coat instead of the box art’s black and added the scratch built pipe after seeing another version of this bust (couldn’t determine the modeler’s name, however). Paint is the usual oils and acrylics:

Thanks everyone - much appreciated. It’s an older piece from Young but they are still superb sculpts with excellent personalities and details - plenty of room for “personalizing” as well. Not that it hasn’t stopped me from just ordering Young’s recently - released Joan of Arc - watch this space…

Thanks again,
Brian

Hi Brian

Apologies thought I’d posted , thanks for sharing a great sculpt

The painting as always looks great , the pipes a nice addition

Liking the epaulettes and buttons , cap details and the scarf pattern all look really good

Pleasure seeing your artwork

Why not look at supporting the competitions

Looking forward to seeing Joan and others

Have fun @ the bench

Thanks, Nap - very kind of you!

Cheers,

Sorry forgot to ask what did you use for the epaulettes silver ?

Nap

Thanks for asking. The Kriegsmarine officer shoulder straps were twisted white cord and the bust had them beautifully sculpted. I underpainted them with a very light grey acrylic, then washed them with a darker grey oil. Once dried, I very lightly went back with Titanium White oil and part dry brushed and part finely lined some of the cord detail.

Cheers,

Brian
